well, i'm in germany, right? and i have no PC of my own as of yet, and i've also just discovered that insuraing a car is very, very expensive. (145? per month for a 1992 mini cooper) so i'm wanting a gaming PC. but i want to build that baby myself, and not buy some girly-man ready made PC that works on the first try. but, of course, i can't use the usual places i used to shop at (specifically, futureshop and atic.ca) so can anyone help a Kraut Brother out? where would you buy your parts if YOU were in germany for four years?

uK: overclockers.co.uk great prices, sh!t returns policy (at least, 18 months ago it was).

Dabs.com are also sweet.

www.promarkt.de - they have store locations too, just find out if theres one near you (ProMarkt is sorta like Fry's Electronics in the states)

Also try MediaMarkt (more like Best Buy)

Google maps will show the local computer shops in your area too.

THREAD! I GIVE YOU LIFE!

Why has no-one mentioned scan.co.uk ??

They often have the best prices out of the dabs/scan/ebuyer/OCUK quad.

OcUK have a very good selection of specialist stuff but they're often rather overpriced (more expensive and then you realise you're looking at the pre-VAT price 🙁)

I too am curious about shipping prices from the UK. I'm posting from a US AFB in Germany and I'd like to see how feasible it is to purchase a bit more locally than newegg (huge APO shipping penalty.) I'd consider purchasing from the two german outlets mentioned but my Deutsch ain't so hot (even reluctant to use a translator like google.)

Overclockers are crap. They sent me an HDD in an empty box with no padding. Needless to say it arrived DOA.

Prices ARE NOT great anymore either.

Dabs.com, yeah, they are very good. You could also try ebuyer.co.uk. Ultra cheapr and they once sent my order twice and charged me once...😛

Go for it, the product names and model numbers of CPUs and RAM and stuff is the same in all languages 😉. Shipping from here to Germany wouldn't be great I imagine, they sting us really hard over here in Northern Ireland for shipping from mainland UK, depending on the company. Dabs is traditionally better for delivery but you'd need to look up their policies to see if they'd deliver to mainland EU at all.
