Online gun dealers - please post your experiences inside

I know we have quite a few gun owners on here, and I wanted to get your feedback on any online gun dealers you have dealt with - both good and bad. I am looking at buying a dreaded 'black rifle' sometime soon, and given current pricing it is looking to be cheaper to purchase online and pay the FFL transfer fee. I obviously don't want to plop the cash down with someone that can't deliver the goods as agreed upon, and those are the types that probably have listings on the lower end of the price spectrum. Also, if you have dealt with some that went above and beyond, I might pay a small premium for that piece of mind.

Buds is kind of like your big store that deals in volume. They have pretty good prices and PROBABLY won't rip you off. Not like going to a crappy local store.

There are a lot of decent little shops like evilblackrifleshop.com. Are you looking to buy complete or build it up yourself?

I've purchased a few used firearms from JG Sales before, and found their rating system very fair, and their prices fair as well. Never had any complaints in any of my dealings with them. 🙂

I've bought things twice from JG Sales. I'd say that they don't have the best communication with customers, but you usually get a quality product in a timely manner.

I've also bought from CDNN. Awesome service from those guys. In order to purchase firearms, you have to call them, but the guys you talk to are very knowledgeable, nice & helpful. You'll get your stuff in a hurry from these guys.

I came in this thread to post CDNN. They are great 😀

Great service and selection from http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/. First place I go when I need something. I don't know if they sell completes though. Pricing and supply of evil black rifles is "starting" to get back to "normal".

black rifles???
what makes it a black rifle vs regular ar-15?

An OD green duracoated ar-15 is less dangerous than the black ones. Everyone knows black stuff is evil. Especially those who don't want anyone but the government to have guns.

I haven't used them, but Bud's Gun Shop is supposed to be good.

I have used Buds and they are great. Prices are solid, but you should definitely look around before buying. They beat out the competition locally for the most part, even the big box stores. I have seen better prices on some firearms at gun shows, but that isn't too common.

The EBR craze is dying down, so I would encourage you to hold off, look around and decide what you really want before diving in. The people who were worried about the possibility of AWBII and are buying EBR's because they want one to hold on to will have their's (or are getting their's now). The good news is that the demand spike will die down and lead to a bit of a supply glut, and the people buying the EBR's to flip them at gun shows, local shops, FTF sales, etc are going to be short on cash and short on buyers. So, you might be able to pick up something new in box or very lightly used for a great price from someone who realizes they need the cash more than they do the gun.

At least that is what I'm hoping to do...

rgwalt, my buddy is a FFL dealer so we talk about this about every week or two.

The demand is down, slightly but not by much. The supply is up markedly from the manufacturers. It's settling down somewhat price wise but there is still a good premium, the gouging/hoarding seems to have died down.

Well, I am a fairly new gun owner and hadn't paid much attention until just as the craze was getting going, so I don't have a good feeling for what a standard complete AR would go for from a company like Bushmaster or DPMS. I do know my buddy bought a Bushmaster for $1K back in Feb, and he could probably get the same gun now for $900. I saw stacks of ARs at the last gun show I was at (about a month ago). They weren't flying off the tables. I saw ARs from DPMS for as little as $900, and upgraded versions for $1100. Literally stacked 5 or 6 deep at various tables. I am willing to bet that the dealers took a least a few of their ARs home after the weekend.

Like I said, I don't have a good feeling for what those guns should cost, but I think we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I doubt AWBII is realistic before 2012. BO has to think about getting re-elected.

This being said, ammo is still in extraordinarily short supply. You would not believe what the dealers wanted for a box of basic 9mm or 45ACP FMJ brass... They were jacking the prices up by factors of 2-3. The ammo scarcity is being caused by these dealers camping out at the big box stores, cleaning them out of shipments, and then marking it up at the gun shows. The worst part is that people are buying!!! I'd rather not buy and not shoot.... Every so often I can find a decent price on some pistol ammo, so I buy it up. But then I go shoot it, so I guess you can't fault me for hording!

Ammo as well as reloading components. Especially primers are hard to get.

Lowers have pretty much caught up and lower parts kits almost there. Uppers seem to be on the verge of coming back down.

Have purchased from all the mentioned companies without any troubles.

If you're charging to a credit card, there is very little to worry about. No different than buying a t-shirt online.

It's just finding a good transfer FFL that is the problem.

Bought a few things from AIM, no problems. Only one firearm, the rest were bullets/accessories. I bought a CMMG "bargain bin" rifle from them for $550, about a year and a half ago, it took them 6 months to ship it. This was well before the crazy crap that has been going on since October. I thought that was pretty ridiculous - only one or two email updates in that whole time.

never ordered a gun from Bud's but have ordered accessories. Cheaper than other places and they shipped it quickly.
ordered a Mosin Nagant from J&G Sales. Took awhile to get it, but this was shortly after Obama got elected.
I've ordered ammo from Aim Surplus, no problems.

I picked up a LMT AR-15 for 1000 bucks in late october before the rush along with a quality AK for 400. There is still a 50% premium going on but it beats a 100% premium.

its true

I ordered my glock from topglock back in 2003. It took them much longer than advertised to deliver the gun (about 3 weeks), but once it came, I was satisfied.
