Online computer hardware stores

I kinda like Adamant. They organize the computers nicely and have online customization. Are there others that people like to use? I am looking for barebones computers. I would like to buy the case, MB, CPU, PS, and thats it. I will add the HD, video, cdrom, memory, OS, etc. Looking for some places to compare with Adamant.

You can't leave this forum without a reference to Newegg. And Zip Zoom Fly is good, and also Multiwave. Used 'em all and never had a problem. One key is location - you want want that is not in your state - otherwise you'll pay sales tax. And, for shipping,. I like a source that is West of me.

If you're in a bad location (as i am... hawaii), then zip zoom fly is really the only suitable choice. $10 flat fee shipping per order!

Froogle for searching. eBay if I'm looking for something that's old or discontinued. Newegg, mwave, ZZF, Tigerdirect, Casemod, Xoxide, FrozenCPU, and SVC are a couple others.

Ya the 3 i usually reccomend are newegg.com becasue of cheap prices on top of the line products and really fast shipping. i also reccomend ZFF and tigerdirect because they sell stuff that newegg may have out of stock or not have at all.

I recommend newegg. ZZF seems to be pretty good as well. SVC for some extra goodies. eWiz has the enhance power supplies that newegg lacks but I've never ordered from them.

I can't recommend tigerdirect since I haven't used them in a long time but my brother ordered a mobo from them a few years back and they just slapped a shipping label on the mobo box and shipped it UPS. Needless to say it came with a corner crushed, pieces broken off the mobo, and tigerdirect wouldn't do anything about it. I would hope they don't do that anymore though.

newegg is great. I have to pay sales tax and they still usually have the lowest prices. I usually get my stuff the next day being that they are 25 miles away or so. Zipzoomfly and monarch are also very good.

Big Newegg.com fan here. Have bought everything from individual fans to an $1800 37" LCD, and have never been disappointed by price, shipping, or service.

newegg is the most bestest. If soemthing's out of stock I usually pricewatch it. Also www.antaresdigital.com: they have a person that actually works for them whos job is to answer emails quickly and fully... much better than waiting 24 hours to hear back from some random person from overeseas to tell you to read the manual

In addition to places mentioned by others, directron.com is pretty good.
Also, Fry's outpost.com is awesome. Sometimes they have some really good prices on stuff.

Use Froogle and Price Watch to determine the range of prices. If Newegg is competitive I tend to use them because they're pretty reliable.

However Newegg isn't always competitive. They can range from being on the high side to just plain price gouging (ex: Conroe launch).

Lately it seems every component I've purchased has come from a different supplier. You need to shop around for the best deals.

Where are you in the world? It's mostly American sites mentioned so far. In Europe check out dabs.com, microdirect.com, scan.co.uk, overclockers.co.uk

I've dealt almost exlusively w/ Newegg and have not been disapointed. I've also used ZipZoomFly and mWave once each w/o a problem.

Newegg and zipzoomfly are usually priced similarly when you factor in shipping. Newegg charges extra for shipping and zipzoomfly factors it into the price. Most of the time I compare their prices will be identical w/shipping costs.

Sometimes zipzoomfly will have better prices than newegg. This weekend I found a Corsair HX520 for 129.99 + shipping at Newegg and the same power supply was on sale at zipzoomfly for $117 shipping included.

Newegg is AOK for you, folk on the Continental USA. I have to go with Mwave because of the shipping to Hawaii. There are other online sellers that will ship USPS Priority w/confirmation. I've seen the deals on Newegg, but it works for you and not me. You're fortunate.

I dont know about Hawaii. Hawaii, is so far from everywhere else, it is really tough. It is almost better to fly to west coast and pick up your own stuff. Might be better off ordering from Japan or something.
