Online bill pay

At my bank:

Online bill-pay payments are made electronically (through ACH) when possible (i.e. the payee has account accessible through ACH). The bank website says "Please allow 3 business days for processing."

Online bill-pay payments are made through snail mail when ACH payments are not possible. The bank website says "Please allow 5 business days for processing."

Either your bank has been delinquent in its disclosures, or your wife is...not detail oriented.

I hate taking care of financial stuff but I do it. You bet your @$$ I still make sure I'm doing it right and on time. Sounds like she just set it and forget it. No research done on this prior ? 😕

Go to the utilities and have them automatically withdraw from your checking/savings account or automatically bill your CC:

That's a crock.

If your online banking is decent, you can see which are electronic and which are not. Either way set up your bills to be paid in advance (just as if you were mailing them) and you will have not problems. You also can manage everything from one centralized place. Who wants to go to multiple websites? Good banks do not charge. If they do, find a new bank. I have not mailed in a bill in 4 years and I've never had a problem.

My bank will pay my late fees as long as I follow the rules and schedule my payments accordingly. 5 days before due date for snail mail and 3 days before due date for electronic. If I schedule my payments to be sent with that in mind, if I'm ever charged a late fee the bank will pay it.
