Woohoo, someone replied and thought it's a good deal.

Onecall is a very good company. They are an authorized reseller for everything they sell. They have many ads in the back of Sound&Vision magazine.

I ordered one Friday at noon and had a tracking number by 3pm. This is a nice player for 1/3 the cost of a new one. Going to replace my Onkyo CD changer and Proscan DVD player with this... one less thing on the rack now.

I already have a 5 disc changer, but mine is SLOW to do anything. Switching disks, reading media, etc. How does this compare? Also, does it play WMA and can it randomly play mp3s?

Well, I just received the one I ordered. When I plugged it in I found out the tray would not open. Not sure if this was just a dud or what it's really annoying.

I got in on this deal and I have to say that the player is awesome! I have had no problems and the unit is exactly what I've been looking for in upgrading to a new progressive scan player; 5-discs, Progressive Scan, MP3's. The remote is pretty puny but very functional, (I use a universal remote and will teach it the buttons from the new remote).

The unit is pretty big, but since I am retiring an old 5-disc CD player and an old DVD player, I still have room. For those features, $99 was worth a gamble to me and I feel like it paid off.

My wife came down while I was watching Titanic and said, "Oh you spent $100 on that? I can't tell a difference." I changed the player back to interlaced mode and then she said, "Oh, well... I see... Okay change it back... Hurry!"

I have bought several things from Onecall recently and found them to be competively priced and excellent to deal with on the phone. My player was shipped on the same day I ordered it, (Friday), and I had in my gruby hands on Monday.

Overall I am pretty happy about it.

Thanks!

I bought a new ONKYO dvd player same model but single disc and had the same problem with the tray not opening. I paid $99 for the single disc and am tempted to return it and get the 5 disc for the same price.

I got this Onkyo DVD player delivered today and hooked it up. So far its working well. I don't know if the picture quality is better than the Konka 1800u it replaces but maybe I need to re-adjust my TV.

The box says that the unit is "blemished" but I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The front panel did have fingerprints and smudges which cleaned off.

If it keeps on working, it is well worth the price.

A couple of points:

1) Just because they advertise in Sound and Vision magazine doesn't make them a good company.

2) They might be authorized, but it doesn't mean they are a compassionate company.

Read through the thread on the Harman Kardon 8000 receiver either here in the hot deals forum or over at the Home Theater Forum to get a better idea of how supportive (NOT!) One Call is when it comes to issues with the gear you've purchased.

My post is not meant to be a thread crap. I'm just trying to get a message out there that people need to research a company a little bit beyone their advertisements in Sound and Vision magazine, their BizRate rating and one person saying their a great company. Clearly reading through the suggested readings that I've provided might give a potential customer a bit of a "well-rounded" opinion of this company.

My friends & I have had nothing but good experiences with Onecall.com (actually Huppin's in Seattle), and that includes almost 10 grand in purchases (couple HDTV's & several components). They are also the favorite retailer over at www.hometheaterspot.com.

I noticed on mine that the black levels were much higher than my older Toshiba DVD player, but I didn't see on the Onkyo where to adjust the black levels. Plus, don't forget to set the Onkyo to output to a 16:9 tv if your tv is 16:9! ;)

I will also echo the positive feedback for Onecall. I have bought other gear from them and have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Thanks!

Got this player, ran it through paces, it works fine, looks new, package definetely like new from the factory - staples in the box, no holes from other staples, as I said completely new. It does take time to switch from disk to disk, but probably less time, than I would spend getting up, finding the next disk and switching it manually in a one-disk player. The tray opens fine, now that I red about that, I think usually tray is taped during shiping, to prevent it from opening, but in this case it wasn't , so maybe the shipping is responsible for troubles people having. Anyway, 1/3 price, nice menus, solid built, got it on the 3d business day from order, thanks for the deal.
