One way ping

Hello,
I have a win 2000 computer with an IP address of 192.168.0.4
I have a second win Xp computer with an IP address 192.168.0.1
Both of them have onboard LAN cards that are hooked up via an ethernet switch.
I can ping the win 2000 computer from the win Xp computer, but I cannot ping the win Xp computer from the win 200 computer. In other words, it is only a one way ping from win Xp to win 2000. The other way does not work. Both computers can ping themselves, and 127.0.0.1 What could be wrong here? Please advise and thanks in advance.

In Windows Firewall, click on the Exceptions Tab and make sure File and Print Sharing is checked. It will enable this for your local subnet (LAN) only.

You can verify this by highlighting File and Print sharing, clicking on Edit, and Change Scope. If you want to, you can allow only your other PC by entering its IP address in Custom List but the default of "My network only" should suffice.

Good luck!
