One very simple Overclocking questions I was hoping I could get answered!

Hi all, I have 1 questions:

1. When cleaning off my HSF and CPU of the old thermal paste, is it best to use a micro fiber glasses cleaning cloth? Or should I use something else?

I use 90%+ rubbing alcohol and white coffee filters. You can use any lint free cloth and plenty of people use regular paper kitchen towel and then blast of the residue with canned air.

It's up to you but I like my way ... .

edit - oh yeh, but to answer your question using that cloth would be fine as it's lint free.

I always thought coffee filters would scratch the Heatsink or cpu since they are so rough

basically u want something thats wont scratch the top surface of your cpu and at the same time wont leave lint resue on it also. Each scratch or lint that remains on the cpu can cause a potential bubble forming and essentially fry your cpu.

The 90% alcohol with coffee filter has always been the method i use. Another solution is they sell prewipes for LCD monitors and eye glasses. These work really well.

Just make sure u dont have any residues, and when u reapply AS5 make sure u put just a small dab in the middle and spread it out. Remember too much AS5 will hinder your cooling and not help it
