4K is awesome for everyday-use but far as gaming goes even with a 3080 it's a bit much for most AAA games at maximum-detail (especially with ray-tracing enabled) unless you really lay the DLSS/FSR on thick.
I've appreciated sticking with my 1440p 144hz gsync monitor. It's high enough res that I can't see pixels, low enough that even my relatively old 1080ti gets >90fps on most things, and the gsync keeps me from noticing/caring if it dips much.

1080ti's really turned out to be a wise investment.... they're only starting to show their age a bit now after nearly 6 years!

Frankly even my old/backup GTX-980 still performs shockingly well at 1440p provided I lower the refresh-rate from 165hz to 100hz. (it also fully supports DSR)

And GSync/Freesync really are tremendous.... my Dell 32 isn't officially Nvidia-certified but it performs flawlessly anyway.

It's never been the zoning for me, it's just the horizontal tool bars PowerPoint likes to open (like when you view slide comments). Maybe a higher resolution monitor would help with that.
I haven't worked that much in PP, but my 49" would be just like two 27" 1440p monitors.

I find 3 screens to be the perfect amount for me, two 24" monitors plus laptop screen.

Video calls and screen sharing are another reason I like two separate monitors. I always want a separate place to keep stuff open in the event I share a whole screen instead of a window.

I often have gaming full screen with Web or Video on the other screen. Games generally demand full screen.

Mine even more so, mining on it paid itself off.

Came across this video while on YouTube. Guy has been using a 48" OLED as his main monitor for the past two years. Mixed use.

I use a 77' for my home PC. Gaming and movies mostly.

I use the 48” OLED for my personal rig. Gaming, web browsing and screwing around only. For work I vastly prefer a normal 32”.

When I bought, not just one, but two 40" 4K UHD TVs (with 4x HDMI 2.0!), they have immaculate picture quality (one has developed a verticle black line).

Best upgrade for my PC, in pretty-much EVER!

(I say that even with a 5900X with 64GB of DDR4-3200, and 2x 1TB Intel NVMe SSDs.)

I know it's nothing compared to your rigs, Adam, but I thought I would mention it to compare with component upgrades that i've done to my PC as well.

I spent a decade on big triple setups from FW900 to 3x27" 2560 in portrait. Went big (50" class 4K TV) in 2015 and haven't looked back. It's superior in every way when used with something like DisplayFusion for window management.

So, y'all got these 100" monitors with 87 insets displayed that you're working with and something inside blows out leaving you in the dark.

Whaddyagonna do?

Do you have a spare 100" monitor stashed? Do you scramble and get out the old CRTs you stashed decades ago? Do you stay in the dark for a week or more hoping the shipper doesn't break the new one you ordered?

You're making it seem as if a monitor or TV just up an dying is a common occurrence today. It's not.

What you say could be applied to any component of a system.

I'll "suffer" through with one of the two 24-inch/60hz panels I have for a week or two until I can replace the larger high-refresh rate screen? *(1st world problems lol)

Seriously screen refresh-rate is much more of an issue then just size at least for me. After adjusting to a 165hz panel 60/75hz refresh-rates just are not getting it done anymore.

I would just buy another one like I bought the first one?

Absolute worst case I'd walk into any local electronics store and buy the best ~50" 4K LCD I could find with RGB pixel striping and proper 4:4:4 chroma support. I could have a replacement on my desk in under two hours as long as it was during Best Buy business hours.

2x43" 4K. One for work and one for play. Can switch to use both with my personal PC but that is rare lately.

The higher up in the corporate hierarchy you go, the fewer/smaller monitors you really need to complete your job functions as a lot of the grunt work gets pushed to someone else and you really are responding to e-mails and participating in meetings.

If you're in such a situation and you're aiming for upper management, you really want to aim for a single 13"/15" laptop monitor :p

If you're going for CEO, a 5" smartphone screen should suffice...

My office all has Dell Optiplexes with a Radeon video card. They're setup with mostly 3 monitors. A few of us have 2.

I remember in the old days those Macs had 1 big monitor. I need my windows to snap to maximum size. I also need to get out of the habit of having 50+ windows open.

I will say that some of the 3 monitor folks have a work monitor, an email monitor, and a chat monitor. They even turn the chat one vertial.

I did pretty much the same thing. A 50" 4k TV at about 30" is perfect for me. Not a gamer, so the lag and refresh rate do not matter much to me.
