One thing StarWars bothers me about...

If their technology is so advanced, why do they shoot those slow ass photon lasers that Jedi can easily deflect? Why don't they shoot with conventional rifles and guns?

Let's see if Anakin can dodge my AK-47....

No doubt he could, ever see Jedi deflecting Imperial rifle shots?

He'll just use the force and take it out of your hands and insert it into your bunghole sideways.

The gun projectiles actually travel at the speed of light. It was the only way they can replicate the stuff for video. Remember, a jedi can see events BEFORE they happen, that is how they can deflect a blast coming at the speed of light.

A Jedi could deflect a bullet because they "predict" it's trajectory not because it's moving slow. Also they'd probably do some fancing light saber move and melt all the bullets.

Bullets are supersonic, but sublight. A Jedi might be able to do like Neo in the first Matrix and stop them using the Force. Althought, if they weren't able to do that, you migth be able to overwhelm them with sheer volume, as even a lowly autoloader like a Colt M1911 looks like it could cycle and fire faster then even the fastest blaster in the Star Wars universe.

I dont get why the Trade Federation didn't dump SARs on all those Gungans during the battle of naboo.

dummy. They *do* deflect real bullets. The only problem is that Star Wars got it accurate. You don't see bullets flying through the air, and they don't make a bright flash as they deflect off an object (like in every car chase seen ever.) So, you just don't see them deflecting the bullets. But, they're there all right. Right in the middle of make-believe, they're there.

DrPizza, there's traditional-style (percussive projectile) weaponry in Star Wars? I thought all the infantry and personal defense weaponry were light-based, and shot "lasers"?

technically, almost every weapon in star wars is a projectile weapon, else they'd look more like star trek phasers. Think of the blaster bolts as really mean, really bright tracer rounds. There is traditional bullet type weaponry in star wars, in the expanded universe, they are generally sniper rifles and such...like the tusken raider's rifle...unless lucas turned that into a blaster bolt as well. Really, someone should take his computer away.

I remember recalling that the blaster shots didn't travel at the speed of light.

I've seen 4,5,6,1 and 2 but just because I happened to be at somebody's house when they were watching it. I haven't seen 3 yet and as a matter of fact I don't plan to :)

they should worry about ROF, not speed

how can they stop a few guys with machine guns shooting at them, they only got two arms and one or two light sabers

Probably the same reason the lightsaber is hot enough to melt a huge hole in the door on that trade federation ship in EP1 and yet doesn't cause its users hands to burst into flames while he's holding it.
