One thing I hate about living in an apartment building.

Even though one needs a radio key to access the laundry room in the basement, that doesn't protect you from the other tenants. Some asshole just stole one of my thick towels from my laudry. Same thing happened a few years ago in another apartment building. Some people simply have no respect for their neighbours. The washers are locked during wash & spin and I was only about 5 minutes late coming back to put the clothes in the drier (which doesn't lock itself By the way) but another lady told me to check my laundry as she saw someone forage through it once it was done. Gonna have to bring a book & start watching my laundry again but that room is so warm and there's no place to sit.

I feel violated and so angry right now. :\

Move to an apartment building that has security/cameras.

You get what you pay for.

I hate everything about apartment buildings. I am sure glad at 47 I have never had to live in one, and never will.

Nobody pays for people to steal their stuff. I'm sure if they saw the hairy monster that is dennilfloss they wouldn't have even touched his towel.

Thanks, Mr. Moneybags. I get what I can afford. I only get $1020 a month from disability so I live in social housing.

Why don't you go work for the government then. You're in Ottawa. All you'll do is sit around all day on Facebook and be rude on the phone. Make $80,000+. ^_^

I never used my apt laundry room. I use laudromat and I always there to watch my clothes.

I just talked to security. Not that they can do shit now but at least it's on report for statistics and policy purposes. They had reports of strange people around the laundry room today. Asked me if there were cameras (they should know that). As for tracking the person(s) down, I'd have to track the lady who saw him/her/them and I don't know her. Not gonna start going door to door to find what apartment she's in and get a description. Security said they'll be looking for someone with a wet white towel during their rounds. *rolleyes*

They should CCTV the whole building. Used to be mostly old folks living here and it was way safer 10 years ago. Now there are lots of hiphoppers and even a crack dealer according to police. People open the door via intercom to the homeless and residents of The Shepherds Of Good Hope nearby. You're not supposed to let people in except for your own visitors.

Some days I just feel like moving in with my ex-wife and her boyfriend in their beautiful, huge house.

So you have security, and may have CCTV... so why the Mr. Moneybags comment? :hmm:

One thing I have notice is that women have little awareness about things. 25&#37 of the time there are a pair of Undies or a sock on the floor or between machines. One time I brought my unfolded laundry back to my Apt and found a pair of panties in it. WTF?

I pretty much can identify everything I have put into the machine and check everything as it comes out of the drier to make sure all my stuff is accounted for.

Ottawa Housing security just has patrols that go through their many buildings once or twice per evening. No security at the door. And there is no CCTV in this building. I wish.

As for Mr. Moneybags, I apologize. It's just that I get cranky at times with some who do not seem to appreciate what being poor is like. Here's an example: For me, going to spend $3.58 for 2 cheeseburgers and a glass of water at McDonald's is a luxury I allow myself once a week or so.

Use iodine to create fake "skid marks" on your towels and I bet nobody touches them again!

apartment building + laundry = no easy answer. i drive 15 minutes to avoid doing laundry in my building. i hope to have a condo in year and enjoy laundry on my terms.

Put up a sign asking for the said towel back since you use it to wipe off the semen and fecal stains off the ceiling.
