One sleek motherfvcking case...

I love the way PS sits at the bottom.
ok but why is that an advantage? Hot air rises, and the cabling to the drives looks real messy because of it

Beautiful.

Best case ever... <45dB at 1m, with 3 120mm, 2 90mm fans, 4 80gb WD HDDs...

It's as close to inaudible as I've ever heard a computer. And whatever barely audible noise you can hear, is a non-intrusive, low-pitched sound of rushing air. When I replace my drives with SpinPoints, even the barely perceptible hard drive hum will disappear.

Wouldn't you want the power supply at the top of the case since heat rises, or would it not be an issue since the power supply has it's own fan? Just seems counter-intuitive.

Edit: nice case

For all the people that know nothing about the case, just look at swtethan's picture, the PSU is essentially sealed off from the rest of the case. And according to one of my friends, it's about eleventy billion times easier when using a modular power supply because the plugs aren't ramming into the back of a dvd burner.

he is right, the whole lower bottom is sealed off from the rest, there is a fan intake at the front of the case at the bottom harddrive rack (the lower right ring) and another at the 2nd upper harddrive rack (upper right ring) it cools the system pretty well when you can crank it up to 110 cfm

Yeah, I've chosen to use one for my next build. Of course, considering my next build is in the range of $4800 and I'm unemployed, this might be a while.

I was just about to post that it looks like a refrigerator!

OMG! when i was buying my case at the store last year, the box was so big this lady asked if it was a fridge, LOL

it's a ginormous pain in the ass to work with the front connectors for the MB because they are behind the mess of wires from the power supply.

i don't know why the fan in the bottom chamber is between the hard drive rack and the power supply, it'd make a lot more sense if it were in front of the HD rack. then the power cable for the HD wouldn't have to leave the power supply chamber, go up over the fan, then come back down. i know, you can take the fan out. unfortunately, when you do that the HDs get ridiculously hot (the smell of cooking circuit board is not nice) because they're decoupled from the steel case (and thusly don't use the case as a heat sink). i should probably move the hard drives to the upper chamber when i get round to reworking things this week or next, though.

This thread is on topic. Why wasn't it locked? The last time I posted something that was on topic for some other forum, the idiot mods decided they should lock it up and ban me for a week.

Oh but this thread is fine, even though it should be in cases & cooling.

Stupid moderator bias and hypocrasy ****** things up.

there will be good deals on this case. i picked up my p160 (the previous gen case) a couple of years ago at compusa for $60 after rebates.

I've had my hands on plenty of cheap Dell and HP PCs recently that are as quiet as can be, and they didn't go through all that rigmarole to accomplish it.
