i dont know... breaking bad is kinda cool but theres a TON of "oh god what the fuck are you doing" moments. and also some "um, yeah right that wouldnt happen" moments too. i do think its a good show, but FAR from the best ever like everyone wants to say.

dexter tops breaking bad. at least the first 2 seasons do.

I take it you have not seen later seasons (especially the last two) of Dexter?

That chick in season 2 of Dexter was just annoying as hell. I am into season 4 of Dexter, so far season 3 has been my favorite. My girlfriend likes the show but said that the last season (season 6) was not that good.

Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman) is really great in Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad. It starts slow but only gets better by the season. It's on it's last one right now, too.

Dexter is good to watch for one season, then it gets same-y and uninteresting.

just like weeds. except i dont think "how are they going to get out of this mess", i think "why the fuck did they put themselves in this position in the first place? and they act like its so surprising this happened?"

at least with dexter its mostly "how the fuck is he going to kill that guy and keep his cover?"

This is one of the reasons I voted for Dexter. With so many serialized dramas the plot revolves around getting out of a situation that any sane person with 4 functioning brain cells never would have gotten themselves into. We're expected to be in suspense over how it's resolved while ignoring the implausibility of the situation to begin with.

With Dexter, his motivations remain consistent and his actions reflect his motivations. There are no dumb "Someone allegedly smart did this really stupid thing to heighten the drama" moments. The drama is natural in that you know exactly what he's going to do but since he's insane you can't believe it as opposed to forced where you think you know what he's going to do but he does something nonsensical to create drama.

I disagree. I find that, especially the last two seasons, Dexter and most of the characters who are allegedly smart do things that are really, really stupid.

Not even close, how anyone could put Dexter ahead of Breaking Bad boggles my mind. Hall couldn't act his way out of a paper bag next to Cranston's performances, and he has the Emmys to prove it.

I will say that after a great first episode the first season kind of slows down
(it's only 6 episodes long), but then season 2 is, and I've said this many times now, the greatest season for any drama I've ever seen and makes up for it.

Jennifer Carpenter is reason enough to NEVER watch Dexter. She is fucking atrocious.

Breaking bad no question. I start watching breaking bad a few months ago and was caught up in maybe 2 weeks. The first episode i was umm maybe I'll like this but by episode 3 I was hooked.

nothing can touch the first two seasons of dexter. and bb wasnt that great until the 3rd season. so watch two seasons of dexter then start bb with the 3rd season 😀

IMO Breaking Bad is much better

This.
I am watching Dexter but I can easily take a break from marathon'ing it. With Breaking Bad, I had to keep watching as much as I could. Just a better show if you ask me.

I still plan on watching Dexter all the way through though, it's still good.

IMHO BB is better because Dexter gets a little repetitive even though it is still great. I think the first couple of seasons of Dexter are the best, while Breaking bad starts slowly and gets better.

I downloaded 4 seasons of breaking bad like a week ago, I'm already half way through season 3. I can't stop watching it.

I tried to do that with Dexter (that's the serial killer one right?) I lost interest in just a few episodes though I haven't deleted it yet. The concept is interesting.

Why hasn't Mad Men been mentioned by anyone besides myself. If Breaking Bad is a 10 ,which it probably is, then Mad Men would be a 9.75. It's seriously that good. I will admit Breaking Bad is the best TV series I have ever watched and Mad Men is right behind it IMO.
