I am going to sell a couple of new iphone 4 on craigslist, but I never used iphone before. Should I sell the package unopened or activate the phone first? I just don't know if the buyer can activate the phone by himself. If the phone comes with a sim card, should I keep it?

Thanks!

Tell them that you'll do whichever they want, and then wait and see if they want it activated or not. Some people are picky and pay extra for it new-in-box (especially for a present), some people want the phone to work straight out of the box and will pay more for that. Tell them you'll do whatever they want and you can get the money either way.

As far as the SIM, I would just sell the phone with the SIM - especially since you say that the phone is new. SIM's aren't worth much of anything... especially compared to the price of an iPhone 4.

If I was a buyer, I would want the phone activated.
Trying to activate it a bitch if you don't have a ATT account.
There are ways to "hactivate" but I haven't tried it.
I still have an older iphone that I mistakenly restored it and I still have got around to activate it again so I can unlock it to use.
Let the buyer know IP4 brand new in a box will be stuck on the emergency screen until you activate it.
Alot of people DO NOT know this.
They think the phone comes already on the menu screen.

Right. But some people will want to buy it as a gift... I think certain people want it activated and others want it new-in-box (so they can give it to a wife who dropped hers and broke it for example) and as a seller, I want to maximize my profit and I personally will do whatever the buyer wants so as to make the most money. So if someone asks my advice, I'd advise to do what I would do. :)

All I'm saying is most iphone users do not know that brand new iphones are stuck on the emergency screen so let them know before hand.
I know this because I have had 3 people restored their phone right after making a deal with me to sell it.
Most don't realize that you have to have an ATT account to sign in and activate it.
I never knew this either until the first time I met with the person for the phone and I was like "how do I get pass this screen"
