One PC on Network Gets Poor Speedtest.net Results

Hi all,

I have internet service with the following speeds offered 50 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up. On the other computers on my home network I get speeds right in line with this. However, on my custom PC I get about 8 Mbps up but only about 26 or so down.

I have Windows 7 64 bit on this machine and I'm using a D-link DWA 556 wireless adapter. The only thing that looks odd is that my Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter has an error of some short. I've tried uninstalling it, updating to the latest D-link drivers, etc. None of those items have improved the speed.

Does anyone have some thoughts on what could be the cause of the poor speed relative to other computers on my network?

Thanks in advance!

Are the other computers wired? Even in perfect conditions (which nobody has) wireless is significantly slower than wired connections and could definitely cause a difference in speed test results.

Several of the other computers are connecting via a wireless card too and getting near 50/8.

I'd start by investigating the error issue with your adapter; I'm not a fan of anything D-link. What kind of error does it report?
