Did you go up (apples screen) or down at the start?

I can get past the apples screen, but can't beat the fall/jump screen after the 1st screen...

I tried hopping up to the top with apples but couln't get past the big jump...so tried to go down and soon as i get to the bottom screen get killed by falling into spikes.
