It lets you know which tab the sound is coming from.

Does Firefox do this now? I know IE doesn't...

That's around the time I first noticed it.

Imagine if you followed up on all your life decisions with this kind of delay--you might well have missed out on your theater date, thus changing the progress of history forever.

Maybe I'm nitpicking, but I find one of the best things about it is that I don't have it installed. :)

Firefox doesn't have that. Not something I miss. I don't have tabs that make noise. It's a good feature, but I don't like Chrome.

Not a bad feature, but with adblock+noscript, I generally don't get that "background sound" problem. If one of my tabs is making noise, it will generally say "youtube" or "pandora" on it.

Sound muted anyway because of dumb websites that think autoplay video is the way to go.

my biggest peeve too - but at least facebook mutes the sound even though it plays the video when you scroll down to it. I'm fine with that.

I really believe anybody who makes automated video play on their website should be dropped down a hole. I can't f**king believe people still do it. I only noticed it today on game-debate.com in an incognito window. 99% of my browsing is done with ad block so I never see that shit and often don't realize how absolutely awful the internet is without ad blocking.

yes nice feature but my fav is my bookmarks follow me. love that!

bookmarks, extensions, passwords, saved forms. love chrome. I just don't see the benefits of using anything else. I used firefox for years and found it lacking.

I do have a few minor complaints about Chrome, but I have similar complaints about each web browser and the benefits of Chrome outweigh them.

  • Ctrl+B/I/U shortcuts for bold/italics/underline doesn't work when composing a post on a vbulletin messageboard like this one.
  • I keep a LOT of tabs open. I would like a single-row of pixels I can grab to drag a maximized window down (AeroSnap). When you try to do it with the current implementation, I end up tearing-off a tab.

I was a huge Firefox supporter back in the day and I like to think I was partially responsible for its popularity (influenced a lot of people working for an ISP). I even contributed financially and bought some Firefox gear from their online store.

...but Firefox got stale. IE had already implemented most of its features and nothing new was coming. Chrome really kicked the other browsers into gear and they've been innovating like mad ever since. Firefox made some dumb UI changes that finally tipped the scales and forced me to start using Chrome as my primary browser.

Indeed. Chrome brought new things to the table. As soon as it had a little experience in the market to get the kinks worked out, I was on board. I find Chrome to be the "snappiest" of the browsers as well, which is huge to me. It has everything going for it.
