Too bad flesh tones look like crap on that monitor. Check out Gandalf's orange/yellow head in the screenshot on the right. But at least it does display *pure* black, so maybe BenSkywalker will have to go out and buy one to run with his GF4 Ti4600 at a measly 1920X1200 resolution 😉 . Sorry for the potshot - I consider it retribution for reading that ridiculous off-topic thread about the Kyro graphics cards.

look closer at the picture, it looks more realistic the more you look at it, and if that doesnt look right, thats what adjusting the screen color/properties is for.

No, I still think the flesh tone looks much more accurate on the regular 37" screen. The contrast on the $50k screen obviously blows the other one out of the water - the beam of light in the top left of the screen doesn't even make an appearance on the monitor to the left, while on the right it's peaking through!

Unless Ian McKellen was jaundiced while shooting LOTR, the skin tone is definitely off. Maybe he caught hepatitis from the Hobbits?

Still, this looks like LOTR viewed in HDR. Nice 😉 .

Does all this really matter though, not like any of us could afford it. Ever.

But we can dream.

Meh, it's just a monitor. I've got better things to dream about than a plastic box 😉 .

a monitor of this caliber can no doubt be tweaked and tuned to display accurate color. i'm sure they just jacked up the contrast/brightness in that picture to show off their amazing contrast ratio. i highly doubt that they even bothered to properly calibrate the display in that picture.

I think the reason his head is that color is because it's being lit by whatever light source it is he's holding that shows up on the right side monitor but not on the left. Makes sense to me, anyhow; I imagine the color of his face on the right side is pretty close to what it would look like if it were lit by some kind of artificial light.

Edit: Oh, and I nominate Rollo to buy one of these and be an early adopter for us 😉
