Appearantly no one in Montreal (where he lives) knows what the disease is called in English...

All they can mention is that it sound like "lepoems" or "le palms" and that it is like muscular distrofy:(

me and my cousins (his kids) used to play a lot when we were kids:(

He is now a cripple and can't even walk, much less grab stuff:(

Poor guy:(

yea, it sounds like lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus). it's an autoimmune disease associated with A LOT of different symptoms (joint pain, kidney problems, rash, lung problems. it's also associated with other diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.

sorry about your uncle...

I'd go with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus too. A friend of mine has a serious version of this, rendering her unable to do anything at all most of the time (often including eating). It has the uncanny ability to mimic the effects of other diseases, but without actually doing the damage those diseases do. People there often are diagnosed wrongly, and receive the wrong treatment. Lupus is uncurable, a very large percentage of the worldpopulation has it, but only a small percentage has the more extreme forms of it. Most people will never know they have it.
