I've only been to MN for 48 hours of my life, but I've been to the Mall of America.

I had never heard of the Mall of America until just a few minutes ago.

So I guess, "Nope, and not a real draw for me."

Though I do like large, enclosed structures.
And based on pictures from Wikipedia, I'd hate to be the one to change lights on the ceiling of that place.

Never been there...never will.

There are far more interesting and important places to visit in this world.

Lego Land is cool, any place that sells legos by the bulk is A OK in my book!

King of Prussia is "closer" for me, but I would never make that trip to go to a mall. You're lucky if you can drag me to the mall I can walk to from my house...

No I've never been, but I think it would be cool to go. I wouldn't plan a trip to DC just to go there, but if I were ever in the area I think I'd stop by.

I'm not arguing whether or not it's that great... I do like the atmosphere though, with the park, and a odd, rather tropical feel in the air some days when I go there.

I was more wondering, seeing as it's one of the most visited places in the country, where these people come from? Like many have said, it's a MALL! Who would travel to a mall?

That's more where my topic comes into play. Convenience aside, it is right next to the airport, only a couple minutes by the light rail, so maybe that helps alot. People fly in, say, "what the hell, why not?" then go on with their other plans.

The truly frightening thing is that MANY people will use exactly that reasoning and wind up going to the mall because they would prefer it to the others.

I think you are confusing the "Mall" with Mall of America. One is in Minneapolis, one is in Washington D.C.

Lived in Minneapolis all my life and trust me, there's more to MN than a crappy mall where people get mugged and cars get broken into.

I would prefer that those people stay out of all the national parks and never visit any campsites anyway.

The last time I went camping in a national park we had to prevent some morons from starting a forest fire (long story short - they started a kerosene fire and were trying to put it out with water), and then their kids also ran their SUV's battery dead playing the PS2 that was in it and we had to jump them. Camping....and playing a PS2. :facepalm;

seriously. if MoA is really the top attraction then that is a sad commentary on the state of things.

Not THAT bad...
Not a vacation spot, but ok if you live close.
Log ride was fun-ish.
Was better before they banned or removed the "Snoopy" logo.
Hanging coaster.
Most all the bars on top went out of business after the smoking ban.
MOVIES! (top floor)
And the mass transit train system to downtown for $1.50.
Had more fun walking around downtown via the transit train, than the mall.
Hey... its the midwest. What do you expect?

I grew up in the land of the Golden Gate Bridge, Cable Cars and Alcatraz and I live in the home of Disneyland, Universal Studios and the Hollywood Sign.

I am not all that interested in going to a mall as a tourist attraction (except for the one with the indoor ski slope in Dubai I went to last year).

I don't like to go to the mall down the street... I can't see why I'd like to travel and go to a bigger mall.
