One more reason to drive an SUV.

Man these things don't even look safe.

I guess this just proves it. You can have these things I'll pay the extra in gas and not worry about the kids as much 🙂

Crash Test

I saw my first smart car on the road 2 weeks ago. I didnt realize how small that car is. I dont drive a large car, it is an A4. But my car felt like a tank next to that thing.

A...

the S in SUV is pronounced as Ess

doesn't matter what it sounds like, only how it's spelled.

you are incorrect

you sure? 🙁

He is an honest man. I'm certain that he's sure. 😉

ZV

fair enough 🙂

How about a crash test of an suv vs a semitruck? The logic is the same. Saying everyone should drive bigger vehicles won't solve the problem and will just start a vehicular arms race.

" An is the older form (related to one, cognate to German ein; etc), now used before words starting with a vowel sound, regardless of whether the word begins with a vowel letter.[1] Examples: a light-water reactor; an LWR (although this example only applies if the letters are intended to be pronounced); a sanitary sewer overflow; an SSO; a HEPA filter (because HEPA is pronounced as a word rather than as letters); a hypothesis; an hour; a ewe; a hero; a one-armed bandit; an heir; a unicorn."

Yes, the logic is the same, but if you have a 4000lb vehicle at least you're on even-footing or better with most. If you have a 2600 lb car, you are on even footing with basically nothing.

Hummers are Death traps
Maybe the driver had time to jump in the backseat.

Why jump, he/she was going to get there anyway.

And when every car on the road is an SUV or bigger, you'll be less safe than in that small car. So why don't we go the other way: tax the SUVs out of existence, because they are a danger both their occupants (SUV drivers have the same fatality rate as small car drivers), and others on the road. Here is some relatively old statistics:

-------
People driving or riding in a sport utility vehicle in 2003 were nearly 11 percent more likely to die in an accident than people in cars, the figures show. The government began keeping detailed statistics on the safety of vehicle categories in 1994.

I say let's tax cars out of existence, because they are a danger their occupants and other bike riders on the road.

Nobody should be allowed to buy what they want. We have to dictate what vehicle you should be driving. What do think this is....a free country?

Clearly we should just get rid of Private Vehicles. Everybody can Ride the SUV killing School Bus!!

See, I know how to drive, so I don't really worry about the crash rating too much. I'll stick with my pocket-rocket to enjoy driving and cornering, you can have your butt-ugly heap of uninteresting and poorly rehashed plastic box-on-wheels.

Let's also include the HUGE Camry and Accord as obviously as these cars are also harbingers of death to these microcars that Pelosi and ilk want us to drive.

So what I need to do is park my Fit inside my '88 Custom Cruiser so I can have the benefits of both airbags and 6000 pounds of steel.
