highlights:

In the formerly communist east, which has twice the unemployment as in the west and where wages are still below western levels, one-third said they were no better off financially because of unification and the end of communism.

The Forsa survey, based on interviews with 1,002 easterners and 1,005 westerners, highlighted a feeling in the west that easterners are ungrateful for the financial support they have received since 1990 and they should do more to help themselves.

I was in the eastern parts of Germany last year, lots of construction work everywhere. The German economy is still suffering a lot because of the rebuild.

Its not that they want the wall back (that's just empty sensationalism), but that they don't want to pay the exobirant amounts that they do now. Imagine if 250m americans transfered $400 billion annually to 50m, who are not spending it wisely at all. Its not hard to imagine that 20% of the 250m would be pissed off, is it?
