One Hundred Albums You Should Remove from Your Collection Immediately

About the only thing I agree with on that list are "Best Of" albums. Whoever made the list seemed to pick some classics just to prod people for reaction. Sorry but I think I will hang on to all my Beatles, The Who, and Jefferson Airplane albums.

Yeah I own and like quite a few of those. The day I let some net nerd tell me what albums to keep and what ones to throw away...is the day my sh!t turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert.

😛

arggg, he is bitching about Smashing Pumpkins!!! and one of their best albums!!! :|

dont own any of the albums listed though

See, now this is why sometimes it's a bad thing that ANYBODY can make a web site and post on it... some of the comments are just insane. This site is a waste of bandwidth and utterly absurd.... *sigh*

All the albums were mostly from one genre... I was expecting lots of Britney, 'N Sync, Enya, etc. Glad to see we're working on the closed minded department on 2 fronts.

Yeah, whoever that dude is.....in my book, he is just a moron.

He is one of the people who doesn't listen to the whole CD, he only listens to the "One Hit Wonder's", or the 2-3 good songs.

This always goes back to the "If you think you can do better, do it yourself!".

He needs to fvck off.....especially when talking about Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeepelin, Greenday, The Doors.......

Although I do agree with him on the Barbara Streisand stuff.........😀

i agree with most of his thoughts.

Fugazi - 13 Songs
Okay, Ian, we get it - don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Oh yeah, that's right, BE A BORING PREACHY MOTHERFSKKER. Get drunk and use this one as your beer coaster.

OMG, he hit the nail on the head with this one!

Morrissey - Morrissey
Now that I'm older and pretty sure I'm heterosexual, my Morrissey albums just don't get much play, except when I'm feeling sorry for myself - then there's nothing sweeter than the croon of the coiffured one. I remember when Kurt Cobain killed himself, Morrissey was quoted as saying he wondered if he would have had the courage to do that. Well, we can always wish.

LOL

i agree that some of these Cds should go maby about 10 or so . but this guy must be smokin crack or somethin he is seriously messed up in the head

Ian MacKaye hasn't been singing songs about not drinking or smoking since what? 1982 or so.

This guy is a moron, although he does have some critical gems:

U2 - War
"We do make, and we will continue to make, soul music. Soul music is when you bring what's on the inside to the outside." (Bono, 1983) --Actually, defecating is when you bring what's on the inside to the outside, Mr. MacPhisto. Well done with 1983's War.

56. No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
Ska? No, not ska. Pop. Feminist? No, not feminist. Victimist. Blonde? No, not blonde. Bleach. Good? No, not good. Bad.

LOL, so true.

I don't agree with all of them though.

So far (I have only looked at the first 25), I own about half of these, and this guy's cooler-than-thou attitude can go to hell . . . I really can't stand people with such censorious attitudes toward others' taste. Several of these albums ("Paul's Boutique" particularly stands out) are just brilliant, even if the writer is too cool to acknowledge it - if, as he says, the Beastie Boys are untalented, surely the marginal "Hello Nasty" is a worse offender than "Paul's Boutique."

Don_Vito--I knew there was something that bothered me about it, I just couldn't put my finger on it. I think it's not only that but the intolerant attitude as well. It really needs to go. What really scares me is that this person took the TIME and EFFORT to compile such a list.

Are some people really that bored?

uhhh... we are all posting on a message board, how is that any different than taking the time and effort to come up with that list?

It is different in that we (or at least most of us) are not spending our time here solely to write page after page of insults with a misguided view toward showing that we are hipper and more in-the-know than others.

you missed the Red Dawn memo, eh?

😉😀

Nirvana - Nevermind

Fair to middling at best, but not the Second Coming. And "Smells Like Teen Spirit" IS the "Stairway to Heaven" of our generation, folks. This is the record you will embarrass your children with.

This guy is a moron. He prolly listens to rap all day. Its bad enough that he bashes Nirvana, but Led Zeppelin? OMFG.

Edit: Just send him an email:

You Sir is a complete idiot. You have no take or understanding of any type of music. You are lucky you posted this on the net, but most people have a good laugh just about now.

He is just trying to stir up controversy. Here is a quick snip:

"The Beatles - Let It Be

Too much Paul (the seeds of Wings are evident), not enough John and George (R.I.P.). Maybe it was a good thing they broke up when they did. You know, it's OK to not own every single Beatles album, and you can still streamline your collection by selling this unnecessary final release. I wonder if the syrupy title track and "The Long And Winding Road" contributed to Lennon's primal scream therapy and the recording of Plastic Ono Band? "

Newsflash, dumbass. If the Beatles would have broke up after Let It Be, there would be no Abbey Road. I couldn't even imagine.

Just goes to show this guy is just spouting off and has no idea what he is talking about. And it seems he has a real problem with the Beastie Boys. Sorry, but Paul's Boutique is a great record, and I think their best.

But he did say one thing I agreed with:

83. Grateful Dead - ALL RECORDINGS

😀

you guys need to stop taking things so seriously. It is not like he is trying to have these CDs banned, he is just offering his opinion.

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty
😕😕
