Yeah, but as bad as he is he's still not nearly as bad as morph.

I don't. I don't care what trappings you give the killing -- it's still a killing. Killing with a trial is no better than killing summarily.

Wow, are you really this stupid? Or are you just acting stupid to get the attention?

And you think that a trial makes state-sanctioned killing OK?

I don't. I don't care what trappings you give the killing -- it's still a killing. Killing with a trial is no better than killing summarily.

In any case, the US has demonstrated that it's willing to hold people without trial (Guantanamo Bay anyone?), so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they start killing them without trial.

In iraq you can be executed for a variety of reasons, not handing over your children for shields would be one of the "right" reasons though...?
I don't believe that there is any "right" reason for a state to kill its citizens.

As such, I don't see a difference in nature between American and Iraqi killing of citizens, only in the degree -- the Iraqis can presumably be killed for a lot more offenses.

At no point in that excuse for an arguement did you present any clearly thought out contentions, I thought of addressing your post, but the further I read the more I understood I would not be able to get through to you.

That woman has larger cajones than you could ever wish to possess, and every freaking American, no matter what their stance on the war, should be overjoyed to know not only that we got one of our own out of enemy hands, but that the Iraqi people, truly, really want Saddam out of there, and what we're doing is the right thing.

But people like you don't care about what's right, only what makes sense in your f*cking narrow uninformed worldview. Do us all a favor and don't disgrace this forum with your presence.

Ditto.

Yup same here

Not that I need to explain myself to the likes of you, but I wasn't trying to diminish what this girl has been through. I'm sure she's been through a trying ordeal. Then again, I don't know what happened and neither do any of you. But you are all so quick to demonize her captors, assuming that they've committed all these hideous acts of torture and other evil.

She could have been worse off. Look at the way POWs were treated in Vietnam. That's what happens when you wreak such devastation on an enemy that is near-helpless against you because of all your superior war machinery. They will retaliate in any way they can. I definitely feel bad for her and I'm glad she was rescued. But I keep it in perspective when i think about all the coalition soldiers who have lost their lives, along with the thousands of Iraqis who have been slaughtered.

Man, you are something else. The Coalition soldiers "lost their lives", but the Iraqis have been "slaughtered". Oh, those innocent Iraqi soldiers are only lashing out against the evil American soldiers. Give me a break

In any case, this thread isn't really about Jessica Lynch, it's about some Iraqi who had the balls to risk his life to help rescue an American POW. This was a very brave thing to do, all the more so because he is an Iraqi and if he had been caught would have been at the mercy of Saddam. I agree that he deserves some kind of medal, that was a courageous thing to do for someone you don't even know from a country that is invading your own.

I know that you want to think of all the Iraqis as poor and oppressed people who just want to stay under Saddam's rule and don't want Americans there. And this doesn't fit in with your little fantasy world. Well wake the hell up, ever thought that you might be wrong? Ever thought that maybe all your rhetoric is based on simplistic generalizations formed around a belief that is held not for logical reasons, but emotional ones? But it's obvious that you haven't. This thread was started to talk about some brave Iraqi and you turned it into another rhetoric filled bash against US soldeirs.
