one click programs: MKV to VC-1, H.264 or Mpeg 4

I am in need of a program that will convert hi-def files from MKV to some thing i can accelerate with my 8600gt. I would LOVE to buy a new processor and jam it in to my HTPC, but since i have an 8600gt, this seems a lot cheaper. Pay or free, any one know of a single program that will convert these files with as few mouse clicks as possible? Or does any one know how to make Xilisoft's Video Converter Ultimate do this? i cant find the right setting to make this happen in that program.

try media player classic home cinema i think it have DXVA support (but not for all video cards available).
otherwise try nero recode ...

Thanks for adding to the thread. The problem isnt enableing DXVA in the player. It was getting the file to actually allow the player to do its magic.

i'm not sure where you are getting mkvs that can't be played back from just cpu.
and xilisoft is junk, just a tip.
coreavc is an efficient decoder for h264.

I was having issues playing 1080p files on my computer (integrated video that does hardware acceleration of h.264 decoding), until I installed something called "Final Codecs 2008" - now they play smooth.
Time for me to watch ep. 2 of Band of Brothers in full HD glory.

I have an E8400 @ 2.8 Ghz and there are some 1080p movies that bog it down... I try to make use of my 8800GT as often as possible too. PureVideo does a good job of making the vid card do its job in some file types, h.264 being one of them.

hm there shouldn't be, playing back evenfull bluray rips doesn't require anywhere near that kind of cpu
