One Black Couple Who's Beaten The Odds, So Far

Marriage is a fairly significant legal contract intended to allow joint/protected assets and rights.

It's like saying, how many people are Incorporated? Or have registered their own corporations, LLCs? Have their Trust?

It's about money.

All I see is an article about two people who can't afford to have children yet are having their 2nd baby. Irresponsibility and ignorance.

Wow NPR... good story. It's good to know that a couple has been married for a year.
98% of the readers of this story think they will divorce within 5 years.

WTF that story is bad.

1st who gives a flying fuck they hit the 1 yr mark? why are they having kids when they can't afford it?

one couple says they aren't mature enough to have a pet yet have kids?

also they were married a year yet spent 6 months apart? and have 2 kids?

i wish them the best of luck. i really hope they can make it. good to see the young man doing everything he can. its rare in young people anymore.

Jon Gosselin says his new girlfriend thinks he’s “normal.” She must’ve dated the brothers if she thinks a guy with 8 kids & no job is “normal!” -- Lisa Lampanelli

Curtis Richardson says that he'd like a pet.

His girlfriend, Candice Blackwell, says it's not going to happen.

They compromise and decide to get a fish.

lol

Two kids, living with a parent, separated for half of their 1yr marriage...doesn't trust him to have a pet but they keep popping out kids? Brilliant.

Government doesnt hand out checks for dog owners.

Nailed it right on the head.

"Wow, look at me, I'm black and I actually married a bitch. I didn't run off om my kids like the other homies." Big woop. You're still trailer trash. If that's the ultimate benchmark for success in the black community, that's pretty sad. It's also a sad statement on society at large that we applaud these people.

You never hear about the ones that work hard, pull themselves out of that situation and become respected members of the community. Plenty of them around but I guess nobody wants to read about that.

It's NPR...

haha. that's ridiculous. shows you don't listen to it.

While the listeners may be primarily liberal, the news content certainly isn't. It is the most middle-of-the-road reporting you'll get in the US.

News Hour is phenomenal.
