My gigabyte nuc runs at 80C (processor) when they are pegged. I've been told by all sources it is normal. I would expect that thing on this system to run a bit cooler simply because of the processor type but to be honest the processor will auto-shutdown if it overheats (unless they disabled that feature). The board should have been able to taken the heat; the first thing that is likely to fail is the ssd.

Just because it's not hitting the immediate shutdown temp doesn't mean running it constantly at that level isn't going to shorten it's life span.

Hello!
Does anyone have problems with the standby mode? I can only enter the S1 Standby Mode. Within this the fan runs an the power consumption is about 10W...
I made a fresh install but all the drivers are up to date.
Thanks for your help!

What do people feel is currently the best value?

Building a thin-ITX system?
Buying a barebones thin-ITX?

Wow these things are small. The Lenovo M93p looks gigantic in comparison to that Silverstone case.

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/thinkcentre/m-series-tiny/m93-m93p#tab-tech_specs (MP93p, H x W x D (in): 7 x 1.35 x 7.17)

Silverstone PT13B thin mini-itx case from post #10: 186mm (W) x 42mm (H) x 181mm (D) = 7.3" x 1.66" x 7.12"

^^^^ So the Silverstone case is actually a big larger than the M93p tiny, but can take processors greater than 35W.

P.S. One advantage to a DIY thin mini-itx, would be a Fanless 35W. See Akasa Euler (fanless heatsink case). However, keep in mind it is a bit larger than either than M93p or the PT13B @ 228 x 187 x 61.5mm = 8.97" x 7.36" x 2.4"

On that Silverstone PT13B thin mini-itx case, it needs a CPU cooler 30mm or less in height.

The following CPU cooler is 23mm tall and rated to 65W CPU:

(Not sure how loud it would be at 65W though).

Getting a little off topic, but another option are the newer Lenovo M700 Tiny's. I see some completed auctions on eBay for $350ish that include a Skylake i5-6500T, 8GB, 256GB M2 SSD. Doesn't seem that bad of a price.
