She was controversial in that many people wanted Kirstie Alley to return and many people wanted the character gone after Wrath of Khan. In Khan, Saavik cried over the death of Spock and people felt that was not what Vulcans do.

It should be controversial. I rewatched all the original TOS movies this weekend and the three conclusions I have come to are:

1. TMP just absolutely sucks. V'Ger sucks and mid 90's Winamp gave better visuals than the 30 freaking minutes we watch the Enterprise cruse through V'Ger. TMP gave TNG its song and otherwise should be forgotten.

2. Robin Curtis just completely sucked as Saavik. They should have killed off the character, she ruined the third movie.

3. The Undiscovered Country's modernness feels like a good sendoff to that group, my only complaint is how un-Klingons the Klingons are.

Ok, this actress actually appeared in a large number of scifi movies when she was a young hottie. After she was no longer getting A list parts she continued do scifi appearing in some that were Syfy channel bad.

Damn, then I have no clue. Honestly she looks like Amanda Tapping+10 years.

She was in a classic scifi movie that has been remade many times. Based on an HG Wells book. One of her last big budget movies was about a topic sure to be discussed in Neil deGrasse Tysons' Cosmos reboot.

Here's one that stumped me. This child actress appeared in Remember the Titans as the white coaches daughter who obsessed over football. I didn't recognize her and when I looked her up on imdb I found she was a famous scifi actor.

It is not known why Kirstie was not in Search for Spock which was a fairly big part for the still relatively unknown actress. Whether she did not want to get typecast like Nimoy or whether the producers didn't want or have the money to give her a big raise is not known.
She wanted more money.

Supposedly Leonard Nimoy said she... err... her agent... wanted more money than Deforest Kelley got. She says that's not true, and was offered less money than she got in Star Trek II. Also, her mom had just been killed by a drunk driver around that time.

Makes sense. It's not generally known but the Star Trek movies had strict budget restraints. Most of the Search For Spock took place on earth present day. Cheaper to film than space battles. And Nemesis used digital effects rather than models.

I suspect it's because Star Trek: The Motion Picture went way, way over budget. Star Trek II cost something like 1/4 of Star Trek I.

Apparently she's been starring in the Planet of the Donuts recently.

Is that Penny Robinson? I saw a cast picture from a convention online recently. Must not have been a recent convention. Either that or she's aged a lot (or I'm just wrong). Don't remember her real name though.

I dare you. I double dare you to identify this former child actor who was on a show I liked, but got cancelled abruptly.

Wasn't there a rumor that Kirstie Alley didn't get offered the returning role because she posed in Playboy?
