i don't know anyone who uses drugs but my father who is a doctor and who deals with junkies in the emergency room says that once someone is on hard drugs like cocaine, meth and marijuana they never stop. does anyone know if that is true?

Where's my free iPod? PM me the iPod and I'll look in the ER for junkies. I'll make them open an AT forum account and answer your question, STAT!

There is a way for them to recover. The problem with addicts is they have to hit rock bottom before they can really be helped. With hard stuff, rock bottom is usually death.

I've never met a junkie I couldn't beat in an arm wrestling match.

Seriously.

QFT....

I don't exactly go into withdrawal and start fiending for a hit when my stash runs out. It's just something you can get used to, like having a drink after work or a cigarette in the afternoon.

No, it's not true.

I agree with this. I can think of many cases where people were into hard drugs for many years and are now clean.

I think it's partly just a matter of willpower and the ability to be objective over one's own life. I know one person who started smoking weed only about 6 months ago and is now dealing coke/aderol and whatever else I don't know about. He just doesn't seem to realize that it could get him into more trouble than it's worth.

That's not a junkie, that's an entrepreneur.
