onboard sound or sound card

Why don't ya play some games and listen to some music without the soundcard. Then put the soundcard in and repeat. If you hear anything postive or nothing at all leave it in. If you hear anything negative take it out.

I mostly listen to music so I put in my old Santa Cruz SC and it sound much better. It really depends on your speakers.

the onboard sound will use cpu more than any pci card.

check the cpu usage of the onboard sound card - there was a small yoot to do this [cant remember off hand what it is called - lots of good to you that is!] , and if it is 'excessive' then get a pci card
