onboard lan help

I recently build a computer with a biostar matx mb. I installed MCE and used the biostar onboard lan, video, and sound drivers. everything checks out in device manager but I can't connect to the internet. when I do an IPCONFIG, I get 0.0.0.0. I can't connect to my router. But the lan light is active when I connect the ethernet cable. when I go into network connections, nothing shows up.

it doesn't sound like I have bad hardware. Is my solution to just reinstall windows? I suppose I could have a bad LAN driver but I somehow don't believe that. Maybe there's some windows service that got shut off somehow or corrupted and I just have to turn it on?

1. "Lan light" meaning Link light? Link lights indicate ONLY that the RX pair is working.
2. Could be a driver. Is this an ongoing problem, or have you had a stable connection and this is a new issue?
3. Have you tried a different network cable?
4. Can any other devices pull an IP from your router?

1. yes, link light.
2. brand new everything so it's a new problem. I will have to download a new driver from the website to see if this makes a difference.
3. i've used this cable before so I don't see it as an issue. I will see if another cable makes a difference.
4. 2 other boxes on the router that work just fine.

of all the stupid reasons... the reason why i was having trouble was because I had a bad cdrom drive that wouldn't install windows correctly. It works now 🙂
