**The RESULTS** For those interested....

Pros:
Well Researched
Reliable sources
Sound logic
Liked personal email scrawled on chalkboard to emphasise personal commitment to the cause.
"Preach on!" comment by one
Have one person workin on goin shootin. (to me, the most important thing)

Cons:
"Information overload" - too many facts and figures hitting in rapid fire... some not being listened to as they are hitting too fast.

Some of the gals wanted more of a, "here's a specific gun defense incident" with Jane Doe stopping breakin, or whatever instead of the one used.

Some did not like the end. Felt I was "over the top", becoming too adversarial.

"It can't happen in America" attitude to blow off info about Genocide. Countered with what America did to Native Americans, giving them smallpox infected blankets, Trail of Tears (aka DEATH MARCH), and butchering women & children also brought up more modern instance: Japanese Concentration Camps during WWII. People being rounded up.... one step away from rounded up & exterminated.

"Guns wouldn't have saved the Jews". Pulled out info on Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, with 10 handguns, Jews revolted and gained ground.

But the kicker.... I could NOT believe someone thinks this way....

This gal says in all seriousness:

"I'm glad the little girl didn't get the gun, because could she handle living with the fact she killed somone for the rest of her life?"

SWEET JESUS! The fact that her family members are
being butchered in front her isn't going to screw with her brain severely already???!!!

But what can I say... with logic like hers.... no wonder Democrats are in office and Rosie is still on the air

I'll give you my opinion... soon as I'm done cleaning my guns. :)

******************************************************

SON!!

Very well done. You have a well written, sound, sincere, argument. Be sure to pause, speak slowly, and speak with conviction.

If at all possible... stage some simple theatric demonstrating peaceful non compliance with one of the current gun laws.

I am very glad, and quite frankly surprised to see that there are so many pro gun persons here at Anand. Now I really am a proud member :)!

Remember... to teach the children the constitution (in its entirety)..... as the public schools are doing much to hide the simple truths and justice behind it.

Let's not forget the past... as it is always taking the high road... and is relentless in its pursuit of repetition.

WELL DONE!

And Classy.... if you believe that taking guns away from Americans.... is going to lower crime..... than perhaps the idiot(s) you speak of ..... really are non other than persons like yourself. You can't save that (6) year old, get over that. You can't have world peace, get over that. You can't stop conflict, get over that. What YOU need is to be in a position of taking a life to save more than your own. Only then can someone like you appreciate the freedom that was afforded you by those that have already done this for YOU.
Life does not come cheap. Sometimes, life is hard, life is bad, life is cruel, and there will always be forces out there ready to remind us of that. You are the one living in fear. Take control of it. Don't be the lamb.

With freedom comes responsibility AND a price. Be willing to pay that price. Or step down and keep your mouth shut. I will be right behind you ready to take the shot, ready to pay the price.

Poor BoberfFett . I feel sorry for you guy. You are such a loser. I would give anything to see you one day have to use that arsenal you have. Probably sit around and shine em up huh. lol People like you just make me laugh. I am willing to bet your probably 150lbs wet. :) So scared and fragile. Oh well let me go change my diapers. :D And trust me I could see myself wiping your a$$, wiping your A$$ all over the floor. To me you are just a little man with fear of not being able to protect yourself. Wimp. But its okay, little guy. Maybe you'll use your gun one day, end up in prison, and finally get someone to watch over and take care of you. You know I what mean, you little sissy ;). Oh and again I think this guys little article is bull$hit. Oh and one more thing lets all stand and cheer for the great NRA. Lets thank them for doing their part to contribute to the thousands of deaths in our country. You know it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

Classy, I haven't repsonded to you in general because you refuse to maturely go at the issue in a factual policy discussion. Instead you seem hellbent on tossing around Freudian assertions about penis envy. If you would actually provide some sort of factual or logical reasoning, then perhaps we would all benefit, instead of thinking you're a ten year old proving what nuts of steel you have by spewing personal insults about gun control opponents.

Learn from DaBoneHead, as he is working at the arguements, the examples, and the logic / reasoning. This is respectable, productive debate...

Slapping a generic "Your article is crap". Doesn't provide anything, other than a blanket, seemingly hasty and thoughtless, response. It makes you appear immature and incapable or at bare minimum unwilling to put any thought into your claims.

How about these statistics;
1) I helped, if not single handedly caught a burgler, when he saw the barrel of my SKS pointed at him he froze until the police arrived.

2) My wife used our Remington 870 shotgun to keep a deranged man, by show of force, from gaining access to our apartment until the police arrived.

Other intresting facts (sources I connot recall from the past but have stuck with me);
80% of gunshot victims have previous Felonies.
86% of Handgun related victims (deaths) had violent criminal histories

So basically if your a do gooder law abiding person your in good shape. Just remember that doing drugs no matter what kind increases your odds of being a victim of violent crime.

classy couldn't round up enough brain cells to match wits with a housefly, I wouldn't worry too much about twerps like him. There will always be people you can't reach. They're too entrenched in their fantasy world where everybody holds hands and sings around a campfire. (Oh wait, you can't have a fire, it's bad for the environment :p) The only thing that can be hoped for is that enough people at least listen to your words, even if they don't necessarily agree. It's a real fool who won't even listen.

Let me be serious here for a moment. Let me address this situation for what it really is. Daemon and "Betty"Fett and people like yourselves live in a fear factor. It is clear that owning a gun more often than not becomes a negative more than a positive. The numbers are so clear on that issue. For every ridiculous arguement gun advocates present, there are thousands of dead bodies in the ground today. And more than 2/3 of them innocent. No article you write, no speech you give, or examples you bring up will change that. The innocent are dying far more than the guilty. To many accidents, to many tragedys, to the point we are starting to lose count, have befallen the innocent because there are too many damn guns. For every stupid a$$ example like the little girl Daemon quoted, I could give you 50 dead bodies that would contradict your belief. You talk about maturity. Here you are using a situation where you would want 14 year old girl to kill using a gun. Then you jacka$$es will be the first to say Columbine was a tragedy. I guess if all those kids could use guns and carry them to school I guess they would have been able to defend themselves. 14 year olds using guns. First thought idiot where the hell was that girl's parents? Moron. You people who advocate violence as a solution are too stupid to want to deal with preventative measures. And Shuxclams and his wife "Jessie James" are the exact goofballs I am talking about. How about if someone innocent jumped out and startled him while he's in a situation like that. If he never had any kind of training he probably would have shot someone. And his wife, sorry guy there has to be more to the story. Bad neighborhood or something. I don't know of too many deranged men just breaking down doors to people's apartments. Maybe attacking someone outside, but now its highly unlikely for someone just to go and break down the door of an apartment. If he was so deranged to break down an apartment door, I guess the sight of a shotgun made him sane. Yea right. That story sounds just like your article Daemon, bull$hit. You gun advocates keep bringing up the constitution. First of all it was written in a different time. The authors did not envision the future as it is today. You exploit and abuse that right for your own self indulgence. You have twisted it to suit your own sick ideas. Unless you are a law enforcement person or you hunt you don't need a gun. Get a dog or home security system. You want to have your gun then push for laws that it make safe for others. Age limits, stop the sale of certain types, extensive background checks, and periodical background checks evry year or so afterwards would be a good start. Just like to save innocent lives against smokers we need to take the same steps against gun advocates. They have smoking sections and laws governing where you smoke. You guys want to have a gun buy a cap gun and you all can get together and play cops and robbers. :) Leave real guns to people who are qualified to have them. Shuxclams stop making up storys. Daemon your article is a joke. Now you want children left at home to use guns. Man please. "Betty"Fret if you are a woman, lol, no offense. Shuxclams stop making up storys. And the rest of you gun advocates grow up this is not the "OK Corral".
And just because you guys have the legal right to own a gun, doesn't make it right.

Classy, I'm so glad to see that not all Americans are gun advocates !

The most stupid I read in Daemon's article is the following :
Germany established gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945 13 million Jews, gypsies, mentally ill people and other "mongrelized peoples," unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Do you think Jews could have protected themselves with guns ? France, England and all european nations could do nothing to stop Germany ! It's a shame to use the holocaust as a pro-guns argument !

It's funny that Classy continues to spout a lot of emotional argument as to why people shouldn't be able to own guns, and continues to lack any statistical data to back up his argument. Oh well, to each his own. You may not like guns, but you may as well get used to them. Or move...

Classy: what purpose does a baseball bat serve other than to beat people? How many people have been beaten with baseball bats? We odviously need baseball bat control! Maybe even ban them!

In california there is a 15 day waiting period on buying a firearm, which has a fee you must pay, a fee which is taxed. In my neighborhood there is more firearms than there is people, and yet I can't even remember a single murder or accident in the 15 years that I've lived here.

In 1992 my dad was involved in a hit and run accident where a 14 year old was joyriding in his parent's car and ran a stop sign. Laws didn't help much there did it?

If a person is going to commit a homicide what's breaking one more law gonna hurt?

Alcohol is the case or many drunk driving death, lets try banning that again. See if it'll last longer this time.

You are right Prey. It is emotional. Obituarys, funerals, and the 11 o'clock news can affect a person emotionally. I am sorry you no longer as well as others have no emotional feelings for others. Stats? I got couple hundred thousand dead people that support my argument. Where's your numbers? Baseball bats? I didn't say use a bat. What the hell are you talking about Demon? And besides bats are not made to kill, guns are. What's this about your neighborhood? If you can't recall anything bad happening in 15 yrs, why is there all those guns in your neighborhood? And how do you know about alll those guns in your neighborhood? What you live in a militant group neighborhood or something? Your whole post is kinda out there. Your just rambling. Quick, get your gun and hold it real tight maybe that will help calm you down and stop you from rambling. lol:) Oh yea deaths across the nation have drop a lot and I mean a lot since there have been tougher drinking and driving laws. Anything else? Looks like I am going to have break out my Smith and Wesson to get point my across to you guys. hahahahahahahahahahaha:D:D:D You guys are so sad. :(

Classy: hunting, firearm collecting, and target shooting are popular around where I live. People don't live in paranoia.

Bats are derrived from clubs which were used to kill people. My point is that ONE ILLEGAL USE of an object does not mean they should be banned. Homicide is illegal no matter what the means. Just because it was done with a particular object does not mean that object is the cause.

Inanimate objects cannot commit crimes. IF they can explain to me how they can, and how you'd throw an inanimate object in jail.

I remember a quote from a movie that rang true to me..."It's better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it"

All these different arguments FOR and AGAINST gun control have their valid points. But most are based on Statistics. I personally can't relate to statistics, numbers aren't 'real' to me.

So my stand on the right to own a firearm is based on 'real-world' possibilities in MY world.

I EXPECT that if I were to want to purchase a firearm, I'd have to go through a thorough process and have good reason to do so, namingly protection. I am also a responsible enough person to understand that if I own a firearm, then EVERYONE in my household too owns it. Therefore ALL PARTIES are to be educated about it, INCLUDING and MOST IMPORTANTLY children.

I currently don't own any firearms, and don't have any plans to do so in the future. BUT, if I so choose to do so, I have a RIGHT (and should continue to have a RIGHT) to get it.

Jesus fscking christ Czar, do you really think that pro-gun people want to use their guns? I own guns, but I'd rather they never get used against another human being. But isn't it better to be prepared than to be totally at another person's mercy when they decide they want to hurt you, for whatever reason. That seems to be what some of you are missing. Somehow you got this twisted notion that Americans with guns ride around on horseback firing their guns in the air. Get a grip on reality, most guns are never used against humans.

Bober Fett the only fool in here is you and people like you. Just what are you prepared for exactly? The only people you are preparing for are people like you. If you want see the people who you should have a fear of being at their mercy, look in the mirror.

I should probably not get involved in this thread, (deep breath) but here it goes.
I hate guns too. Because they kill. Plain and simple.

My uncle was shot and killed by a policeman in his own backyard because the policeman thought he was a robber. My 2 little cousins grew up fatherless.
My friend's dad was shot and killed by a security guard because he unwittingly walked away with a glass that belonged to the Hotel that he had gone into to have a drink. Apparently he was tipsy and didn't hear the guard yelling at him.

I don't think guns should be banned. But I do think that some rules and restrictions are needed.
Yes, they should be there to defend the helpless. But the 2 examples I gave were of people who had the right to have guns but were too trigger-happy. All I say is that people need to be a hell of a lot more careful when it comes to guns and that it would be nice to try and keep them out of the psycho's hands.
