on-the-fly sensitivity

ok so i got this razer diamondback mouse, but i have no idea what on-the-fly sensitivity is and if it actually makes a difference. this might seem like a stupid question but sorry..

It allows you to change cursor speed while in game in the event you have a preference for slower reticle movement on certain weapons, or in the event a certain game (Thief - Deadly Shadows for instance) may not have an in game (menu) adjustment slider you can use it instead.

Why'd you get that mouse if you don't even know what on the fly sensitivity is?

Probably because it looks sexy
