on the chance my audio is screwed up because i have tried so many drivers, and some may not have been uninstalled correctly, how exactly does this work? for example, in the windows/system32/drivers folder, are all these drivers loaded or just the ones called for? is there harm having a .dll in here that i know my system is not (or shouldnt be) using?

I wouldn't be messing around in your drivers folder without really knowing what you are doing. What drivers are you trying to install? Is it onboard ac97? Just use your motherboard manufacturers drivers.

but i have searched for support on that issue and found none.
my question now is...are all the drivers in the system32 folder loaded. should drivers be in there that are no longer used?

the audio was crappy before i reformatted, now the whole system is definately worse. the wrong jacks? i suppose i could try the headphone jack in the front and see if that works better...but i dont think that would be causing infinate loop problems.
