What about melatonin.
It's all natural. :)

Edit: And just TAKE ONE. (per day). It's EXTREAMLY STRONG (not saying it will work though) and it's 1000x more then your body really needs.

Nothing OTC I've tried has ever worked for me.

Ambien is the only one and that doesn't always work for me either.

What he said, wonderful stuff

I agree with these statements.

I find melatonin weird. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It's extreamly potent though, so only take one (even if it doesn't work). It's apparently designed to raise your melatonin levels in your blood (the stuff that makes you fall asleep).

It's produced by the brain in much smaller quantities then the stuff you buy in the store. The stuff you buy (to help you fall asleep) just raises these levels for several hours. Also melatonin is also being studied as an anti-oxident and something thats good for the immune system (calcium+melatonin=pwnd) meaning it's good for you in a lot more then one way.

However, we still don't know the long term effects of it, but I still think it's a hell of a lot better then the sleeping pills that you can buy (and can be deadly).

take one melatonin AND one generic benadril (antihistmanine). Works wonders and is cheap ! Melatonin alone doesnt do much for me.

i have a friend who was on ambien, xanax, lunesta...but became resident to it and he also swears by melatonin/benadril. And it's about 10000x cheaper :)

A single benadryl knocks me half retarded for a solid 10 hours or so.

Try some brandy with hot cocoa, or brandy and milk. OTC Try benedryl capsules or tablets, doctors often prescribe these to the ignorant who don't know what the good meds are. Ask the pharmacist, the side effect of the antihistimine, it is drowsiness, = sleep.

Sorry, I had a phone call mid-post, so I see your getting the same advice.

question...

Do you excercise? eat healthy? have debt problems or other issues that may be stressing you out? This can lead to sleeping problems.

I used to be a hardcore insomniac.... go to sleep around 4 - 5 AM and get up for work around 7
Used to hate it, but since I've started working out 4 months ago, I sleep like a baby.
I wake up at 6:30AM workout for an hour, go to work get home and bike ride for about 1.5 hrs
Eat dinner... good healthy food... watch a little TV, play with little girl some games, and then hit the sack. I crash HARD and quick now.

This sounds like good advice. Develop a routine and stay active. Heck, I had 3 hours sleep the other day, I stayed up, even though I was tired, did my chores and slept great that evening.

This is funny, but true, because benadryl does nothing for me, but stop itching from poison oak or mosquito bites. But, as many doctors have told me we all react differently to meds.

Melatonin knocks me out for about two hours, but then I wake up and can't sleep until I take another one. I find a glass or two of wine work much better than any sleeping pills I've tried. I've known other people who had great results with melatonin, just not me.
