So about ten years ago in my 20's I woke up one early morning with a ton of stomach pain. I usually have a high pain tolerance but this pain just crippled me. I noticed that every meal I ate I would be in pain about 2-4 hours after the meal. I ended up throwing up three hours after a meal and the food came up whole. I lost a lot of weight really fast. Loss of appetite was pretty much the issue.

I went to the doctor and they ran all kinds of test. The only test that gave them any info is when you eat food with nuclear traces and you lay on your back for hours and they track your stomach digesting it. Short answer for at the time they said my stomach was digesting a lot slower than it should which was creating a gas and acid build up. They said they didn't know what caused it and gave me some pills that would speed up my metabolism. I adjust my diet to help my digestion at the time with the meds but the meds would make me fall a sleep while working so I stopped taking them. Eventually it got better and the only casualties of this problem moving forward was occasional heartburn and feeling full for a long time after the meals.

So fast forward to three months ago. I started getting some of the same symptoms I was always bloated, more heartburn and really bad stomach pains about 3 - 4 hours after a meal. There is not one food that triggers this. It just happens... After the first issue in my 20's I cleaned up my diet and eat really light at work and drink mostly water during the day. I usually have a large dinner but the problem is mostly during the day not the evening.. I am regular with my #2's and don't have any issues with that.. The only stuff that would give me some relief is Prilosec..I have an appetite though and still want to eat. So this is the only thing different.

I went to the doctor when I started missing work and so far have done blood test, Endoscopy, Ultrasound and a CT scan. Nothing has given us an answer of what could be the cause. The only thing the doctor found was in the Ultrasound he found benign Tumors in my Liver. They told me these are apparently more common than people think and reassured me they aren't affecting anything. I will be going in every six months to check on them but they feel this isn't causing the issue.

So basically he is waiting on my medical records from when this started to see what the next step is.

Anyone have any stomach issues like this at all? Did you figure out the culprit?

Hmm wish I could offer some idea but that sounds strange how it occurs so many hours after a meal. I've never been 'diagnosed' but feel like I have a slight IBS thing going on but it's nothing like you have described.

Just throwing this out there because I started taking them the last few years and it's helped me, PROBIOTICS?

Have you been scoped by an ENT?

have you tried cutting a different food out each month to see if you can isolate?

Are you under tremendous amounts of stress?

Do you smoke?

I take my antacids at about six pm instead of bedtime so they have full efficacy when I need it most and I drink less water before bed.

My issues were a little different than yours but I had to cut out a ton of fried food and potatoes. I am not allergic to potatoes but if I eat lots of them my stomach processes them so slowly. I do great when i eat veggies and complex foods.

Not be be blunt but are you overweight as well? My simptoms were worst when I was heaviest.

Me! I have chronic GERD, and I actually have to watch what I eat very carefully because food will suddenly get stuck in my chest, I'll get painful hiccups, and then throw up everything I ate a few minutes later. Dense white meats, fried foods, and certain spices seem to set it off.

Fortunately the Dr. and I found the right combination and dosage of proton blockers and acid reducers to keep it under control.

The pain from this really is crippling. You seem to have an even more serious problem than I do though :(

For years I have been taking them. Lately this last year I have Goodbelly every morning.

I have cut foods out for only about two weeks at a time. No significant difference. I did notice that Coffee and Espresso seem to really start my day out bad. Not to where its level 8-9 pain but a lingering pain that will be there almost all day. So I have stopped drinking either every day. Still going weeks with out either I still get the stomach pains. I have also cut high acidic fruits out of my diet the last two months.

Stress... I think everyone has stress, if you don't you are lying to yourself. I have shit going on in my family like everyone else but it doesn't ruin my day and I don't loss sleep over it. I tend to deal with it well. My Wife is pregnant and due in February. I don't feel that could be a cause though. Im looking forward to the kid, this was planned. ;)

I smoke cigars occasionally.

I had the same problem with potatoes in the morning but any other time of the day they didn't really bother me. Maybe because they were fried?

I got married in 2012 and lost about 15lbs at the time. my weight has come down 4lbs since and has stayed constant no fluctuation.. I know I could lose weight. My problem is I have a sweet tooth and want to eat sweets after dinner. I am 5-7 and 170 lbs. I know for my height I should probably be in the 150 range but I'm not a fat fuck.

Wow man that sucks.

I love food and hate how I need to tippy toe around stuff right now. My diet is pretty good during the day. I eat light because I get that food coma feeling if I eat anything heavy and hate that feeling at work.

Do you ever eat anything spicy?

When my stomach acts up I sit down to healthy portion of hot wings and that normally straightens it right out.

I use Carolina Reaper Pepper sauce but you better slowly build up to that.
You can order it from the Puckerbutt Pepper Company website

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsaicin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Reaper

The Carolina Reaper is a cultivar of chili pepper of the Capsicum chinense species, originally named the "HP22B", bred by Ed Currie, who runs PuckerButt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, South Carolina, United States. As of 2014, it is the world's most piquant pepper.

The original crossbred was between a red naga pepper and a Red Savina pepper.[1] The "Carolina Reaper" was rated as the world's hottest chili pepper by Guinness World Records from 2012 to 2014.[2] It averages a 1,569,300 on the Scoville scale with peak levels of over 2,200,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

Im sure you have tried reglan, neostigmine, pilocarpine, and erythromycin. Unfortunately some of the other prokinetic agents have been withdrawn from the us market

Many people fault gluten or gliadin when some of them actually have sensitivity to FODMAPs. As with gluten sensitivity (as opposed to Celiac disease, proper), often this is not a problem with your GI tract, per se, but rather linked to a disturbance or an unhealthy change in your gut flora (microbiome). Or a high-inflammatory diet, in combination with other inflammation-promoting factors such as stress.

However, my mother has chronic (relapsing-remitting) gastritis and IBS symptoms, too. She has tried everything, all sorts of elimination and challenge diets, and they just can't find the underlying cause. It comes and goes, for 30 years now.

Oh and as to the proton pump inhibitors, I wouldn't take them long term. There is evidence that when you take the proton pump inhibitors for very prolonged periods, your body just compensates by creating more of the cells that produce stomach acids. Take them a couple weeks on, couple weeks off, if you can.

Do you get any exercise?

Have you tried changing your eating patterns? For example, not eating anything in the hours before bed. Or not eating any sweets after dinner, or skipping breakfast or skipping lunch?

You seem to be very focused on what you're putting into your body. Maybe that's not the issue. Maybe it's how you're doing it.

Yes indeed.

Works better than any of the prescriptions or OTC.

OK, you eat spicy all the time. What about Milk and dairy?

Greens?
Most of the dairy I get is from Almond or Coconut milk.

I eat veggies almost every day.

I'll look into this Fodmaps dieting. My goal is to not take these meds that long. That's why I want to find out my problem.

Most of my exercise is cardio based. I do a lot of walking at work and usually go for bike rides or runs.

I have adjusted my eating habits. I try to eat smaller more often during the day. My breaks are in stone at work at 10 am and noon. So I usually have something to eat 2-3 hours right now. Doctor mentioned trying to eat six meals a day so I'm pretty much doing that now. Funny thing is dinner is when I go way off the radar with eating more and sweets. But I have no issues after dinner and while in bed. This coming week I'm gonna try no meds and see how the dieting helps.

Stomach issues? Yes. They were stress related. The only way to reduce stress was to change my lifestyle (job), which then erased the stomach problems completely.

As someone who had a burst appendicitis as a young boy and subsequent 6 month stay in the hospital because of it. I have stomach problems.

To this day no one in my family or friends understands my stomach problems.

They will be like "eat these 20 chicken wings with your beer". I refuse to eat anything if I plan on getting drunk. A simple sandwich will fill me up and leave no room for beer.

The doctors took out about 80 percent of my intestines when I was younger. It's really frustrating telling friends I don't want to eat and drink at the same time. I need atleast 6 hours after eating something before even considering downing a beer. You either have me sober as fuck and full..or me getting my drink on. Take your pick mofos.

Yup, I've had this issue for a while now. I had a HIDA scan which is what you had done and we decided to remove my gallbladder this past Feb. Some days I feel like it's better but some are bad.

Have you tried digestive enzymes? I use to take them with every meal but I've stopped taking them these past couple of weeks.

I've always had stomach issues going back to being a little kid. Have always got heart burn after eating anything greasy, especially at breakfast and dinner time. Something as simple as eggs will set me off and make the day miserable. I either do cereal, oatmeal, cream of wheat or a protein bar and I'm ok.

About two years ago, I lost around 70lbs and of course my gal bladder gave up on me and I had that removed. Since then, I've completely cut out red meat, greasy foods and pastas to the point where I don't even "treat" myself on special occasions. Still have some funky feeling days, but now I dictate what I eat, even if it means hurting my wife's feelings about the dinner she made.

My biggest wish is that this doesn't pass on to my daughter.
