On getting sick every winter

It seems like every winter, I catch something. Sure, it sucks being stuck inside for those couple weeks and getting set back about 2 months worth of weightlifting, but there'll be a day when I've had *everything*. And my god, I'll be indestructible

Alright, this has been my random thought of the day...

I feel for you, man. I know people who have that problem. Not sure what it's like, though, since I haven't even had a cold since 1995.

Russ...you do realize you're going to get a cold next week...just because you said that 😉

Actualy, come on over here, I'll give you mine! 🙂

I get a sore throat every winter, usually around Christams time. Once on christmas eve. 2 or 3 years ago it got so bad I got dizzy and the doctor said it was viral so there was not much I could do except wait it out. I got a perscription but it didn't help.

Wouldn't work. I'm frequently around people who have a cold or the flu and never seem to catch it. I think it must be the massive amounts of caffeine, nicotine and junk food I consume. No self-respecting germ wants to exist inside my body.

b0mbrman, is it something different every time, or something in common, like upper respiratory?

i have had the same problem for the previous winters. this time i started to drink extra OJ and eat a lot of oranges starting from end of fall. usually i would have fallen sick by now, but i am still healthy... i hope i didnt jynx myself..

Wash your hands (especially when you arrive home or are near someone sick), don't touch your nose/eyes/mouth without a tissue, stay away from sick people if you can, and take vitamins. Do all of those things and you will greatly reduce the frequency of colds you get. I used to get sick all the time, but since I've been more diligent with all of the above I rarely get sick. When you do get sick, get extra doses of zinc and vitamin C, use echinacea for sore throats, drink lots of water, and have lots of classic sick foods like chicken soup and OJ.

Funniest thing this is the only year I haven't gotten sick in like 10 years and the only thing I'm doing different is eating 3-5 fruits a day.
