Hi, I went to a heck of a lot of trouble (driving) and I picked up a bunch of these phones.
I am less interested in selling them than trading. Specifically, I would like to trade some of them for a 3+ MP digital camera (looking for Canon Powershot G1 or Nikon Coolpix 990).

Please email me if interested. Otherwise, I will probably auction them (sorry).

Be careful with Staples... it turns out that store managers have significant leeway in determining what can be PM'd.

Good luck to everyone in finding them. Staples can be a real %*#&.

Staples does &8!$#2$$#@#. Seems like they only on PMs they choose. The "managers" I dealt with called OD to verify if the Timeport was in stock...not carried at the BM ODs in Metro DC, so no go! Even though their policy indicates they will honor internet PMs. But after reading the review (tanx MrVW) who'd want this POS anyways....

Re: Staples: Managers have a lot of leeway in deciding what can be PM'd. So it may be a matter of finding the right store.
A couple of tips: the ones in the striped shirts are the managers. If you go at LUNCHTIME (around 12:30 or 1PM) you may catch them understaffed. A lot of times, they will leave the poor managers in training there with 1 or 2 other staff members.
Now, since people who work in offices often buy office supplies on their LUNCH BREAKS, they sometimes find themselves with 3 staff and 30 customers (kind of funny to watch). In those situations, sometimes they have to make quick, uninformed decisions and you may have better luck.

Keep trying!

I can't believe it! The Timeport that I'd backordered from the online store by calling in actually arrived yesterday! Wasn't expecting it at all. Don't see a charge on my CC yet though.

The Timeport I backordered from OD arrived yesterday as well. This will make my neighbor happy, as he missed the deal but wanted one (and I'll sell the new one to him for my costs only).

You guys are lucky. This one nice phone and is not a POS as ydoodle states. A bit envious that he did not get one?

Ok. I just checked my backorder and it said something about "waiting to fill". So I called and they said it would ship.

They also said they had *NO* credit card information on file for me. Said they DONT KEEP IT ON FILE so they would have been calling me to get it.

You guys who already got your phones might luck out and NEVER get charged.

Good luck!!!!!!

The Wireless Web Connection Kit for the Talkabout may be compatible with the Timeport. The Sprint PCS web site sells the kit for $59.99. That will give you the PC connection software and cables (but make the phone a lot more expensive).

I can't find it on the Office Depot site. What is the SKU, or how to search for it? Can you put it on backorder for the $43 price?

THey may not be out of stock. On Friday when I called about my backorder, they let me order another and the status says it will be here tomorrow. Try calling and asking.

Also, to Syrex, did they call another OD store or did they call the online #? I was told the phone are still $59 by the online people. I'm wondering if they were mistaken. They did say some stores are further discounting them. At any rate, primo cool deal.

Just called 3 times and talked to different customer reps... all three said that this item is discontinued and is not (will not be) in stock. They said that the only hope is to find it in some stores that might have some left... I guess no phone for me
:( :( :( :( :( :(

PS> I'll be happy to buy one if any of you got too many... :)

They called another local store. What i did was brought a printout of the web and showed it to them. The manager thought that it was an error or i was trying to pull something on him so i asked him to please call any local OD then. He called right in front of me and responded with a surprised "$43.88?!?!!"

So he gave me all three that he had and told me to take it to the register where another manager rang me up. When the second manager rang it up with the price i gave him, the receipt showed a price savings of $618.33 he called the first manager over to verify before i could walk out the store.

Syrex,

Thanks for the reply. That's what the woman online said - that some stores were further discounting. She would only give me the $59 price but one one of the 3 I ordered I used a coupon. I"m gonna keep that one for me.

I was one of the lucky ones to get my hands on this deal. I did appy for the Motorola $50 rebate. I also picked up another brochure in OD, which states that there is a $50 "Sprint Service check" good towards the payment of sprint charges, if I signed on the one year agreement (which I did). If one did not sign on the contract there is a $30 service check. There is no rebate to send for this one.
Also, register your phone on the Spint PCS site within 20 days of activation to get an additional one time 60 min credit for the following month.
Ofcourse if you know anyone who has a Spint PCS service, you can get an additional $10 (both you and the refered), by dialing #10 TALK on your sprint pcs phone (at the prompt you need to enter the refered cell number)
Is there any more deal that I can stack :D

Does anyone know whether wireless stores will allow trade ins? I'm getting Verizon service and I cant use this phone. If I cant trade in and if someone still wants one I will post again and someone can take it off my hands.
