Any deals on activating these puppies. I got each model ... actually like the 6100 a little more ... but I am wondering about service deals now ...

Like going to BestBuy and getting a Gift Card with activation (if you can) or any idea other dealhunters have.

Ugh... Lotsa headache but it all came out in the end.

I was able to find a Timeport at OD after traveling 50 miles out of my way. There was only one left, and the box looked pretty banged up, so I pulled the phone out half-way and it looked new. After reassurances from the manager that it was "of course new", I took it home. The long and short of it: It wasn't new, the clip was missing, and it appeared to have been returned. 45 minutes on the phone with Sprint, and they say they can't activate it because they consider it "stolen".

After driving 10 min to my local OD and threatening to castrate the manager's children, I was able to get a brand new (not stolen) digital StarTAC ($100), and a Belkin Executive Starter Kit that includes a leather pouch and a cigarette adapter/charger ($45) for my trouble. I could have got another Samsung 8500 to match the one I got last year for $50, but I opted for the free StarTAC with goodies.

This is probably something really stupid to ask, but we don't have a Staples round here. Does someone have a scanned copy of the rebate form? I would be most grateful.

I had two different orders for the Timeport and it keeps getting delayed delivering to me. Some OD rep called me and told me that it would arrive 3 days later than originally stated, and so on and so forth. I WANT MY PHONES!!!

This is a great deal for those that are looking to connect those SPRINT PHONES they got.

Sprint 250 anytime and 1250 Nights & weekend minutes total 1500minutes for $34.99 is still GOOD. You get free Long Distance. Only thing they are not offering is the 6 month FREE WEB Messaging thing that expired on 1/14/01.
I just converted my 29.99 plan to 34.99 1/20/01 and they said it was extended for a few more weeks. If i were you i would HURRY.

For those with Sprint PCs service dial *2 send its FREE.

If you goto the STORES they said it expired but if you call up sprint directly its still valid.

Here is link to SPRINT'S site.

Goodluck
Purvin :)

Great, I got a small package from OD today. I got a "second" place prize, aka a catalog. Phone on invoice says its on "backorder" (which will probally never get filled...)

Strangly, they charged me 0.01$ for this catalog. Anyone else get a consolation prize, and get charged for it?

Don't give up on the Staples deal. I just bought two Timeports @ Staples B&M. I don't remember dealing with nicer sales folks in a long time. Here's what you have to do:

1) Print out Timeport webpage from OD web site (go to officedepot.com and search for timeport)

2) Go to Staples B&M with the printout, get the phone and say you want to pricematch. They do pricematch with OD and do take a web-page printout as a proof (cashier code 06). They may or may not add $5 for some "shipping charges" pricematch crap.

3) Be nice with those salespeople! It sometime also pays to play "naive". Ask questions, make them feel like they know more than you do about cell phones, plans, deals, etc.

They even offered me some Staples store card with point earning & 2.5% cash return deal (not that I care about it.) My total was about $61 per phone. Of course, this may not work in every store but it did in mine this morning (Boston area.)

VIP52 you're LUCKY!

Staples in manhattan, Ny sucks.

After went to 5 Staples B&M in Manhattan, proved that as someposted a while ago that all staples manager got notice not to do the PM.

First i got a nice floor rep willing to match the price. Then a smart a** cashier see the huge price difference, go check with the supervisor, then the supercisor claim that OD price is for new customer with new activation.

I asked, ok, if I activate the phone now, will I get them match OD price, then the supervisor go check with the mamaner and said NO.

what a waste of my one hour time.

Deal is a good deal if no extra time is involved. Deal is never a good deal if you spend more time in searching for such dirt cheap product which your salary can buy a decent laotop.

Anyone have a URL for the OfficeDepot link? If I search on TimePort, it just takes me to the generic wireless store when I click on the result and the phone isn't listed...

What is the status on this deal from Office Depot? Can it still be ordered?

This review says the Timeport sucks -- read the section where it says Timeport, he says dropped calls and other issues. I know my wife isn't going to like me switching her phone to one that drops calls :)

Good luck in finding any leftover Timeports that are still lingering at OD. One thing I recall when PM'ing for something (not the Timeport) at Staples is that they asked to make sure the item in question is actually in stock at another store/competitor. From what it sounds like though, it may depend store-to-store and what reps you deal with.

I finally found this phone in stock at my local STAPLES.

I bought it at the retail price of $250 today.

Tomorrow I intend to take back a scanned receipt that shows this exact phone sold for $60 from staples after their pricematch (thanks to the guy from this forum!). I will DEMAND that they match this price, OR ELSE i will return it to them. (will this be enough leverage?)

NOW---should i stick with this plan, or should I activate the phone through SPRINT today, so that when I take it back tomorrow they will have to cancel my sprint and then they cannot market the phone as "NEW" anymore since it will have been activated.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ????

ANY TIPS/ADVICE/STRATEGIES are greatly appreciated.
