<< I just price matched it to TC computers. Amazon just shipped my 3635.

Amex told me that they are having problems with their 1-800 number due to the overwhelming calls!! They also said they are processing orders in 3-4 weeks as supposed to the original 2 weeks. Is this the famous AT effect? 🙂 🙂 🙂
>>

Hi, did you use the Ordered upon request print out from TC Computers or the Not available one? Thanks and glad you were able to PM 🙂
>>

I have a printout of TC computer's invoice that has my name on it and qty as 1. No indication of unavailability. I hope it works...

can't you buy this from TC Computers and then use the rebate? does TCC selly ou a white box or something... that noone wants to get it from them?

I'm getting my iPAQ tomorrow morning at my local sears.
This surely will be a hot deal (even if they don't PM right away) because (as we all know) prices for the iPAQ 3635 will drop drastically beginning in Feb.
... and Sears has a 30 day PM-Policy 😀

I don't know but the demonstration model might be the only one they have left ...
Since I want to make sure I get EVERYTHING, what is included usually if you buy the iPAQ?

Compaq iPAQ H3635 with stylus
Compact Flash expansion sleeve
USB Docking Cradle
AC Adapter
Extra Stylus
Basic Style Pack (What's this?)
Slip Case

Is that all?

=====
On a side note.
Do I need the box in order to get the mail in rebate?

😕

After 30 min of calling different Sears.com people, the sales associate finally priced matched it 🙂

599.99 pm to Compu-America ($320+$17 shipp) = 337 + Tax = 357.22

I first bought it and then price matched it, so there will be a credit on my AMEX card. Hopefully I'll still be able to PM w/ BLUE once February comes around (not sure, since i have two reciepts, one with the original price and one with the amount credited back to my card)!

Good Luck

You know what is weird about this BVG thing?
I noticed (maybe this is becoming more prevelant) that one CSR, this wheezy guy, wanted to check to make sure the store didn't already have a best value guarantee. Nobody else seemed to be doing this. Is this just me? Did things change over the new year?

I bought the Ipaq 3635 last Friday (January 11th), and I'm having trouble getting Sears to pricematch, they keep on telling me to take it to the store, and the store won't do it. How exactly did you get the Sears.com people to pricematch it? Did you just call and ask for a PM? Do you have any e-mail or anything from them, confirming the pricematch?

"$%"§$% Sears!!! :|
First they wouldn't PM with any of the cheap online stores (the manager searched their website for something like 30 minutes until he found some page where the only "acceptable" online retailers are listed)

Then they told me they don't have any in stock and weren't willing to sell their out-of-box model in display "because they would soon be getting new ones in" (Hello? Did I miss somehing? If they get new ones they don't need this one?????)

Don't buy at Sears!!!!

@PokeSmot: I would really appreciate it if you could PM me if you have some kind of proof that sears PM'd Compu-America for you (That's the one I thought they would accept, but no...)
I really would like to stick it to this jerk!!

Does anyone know if I can press him to sell the display-model? Is there maybe a store policy???

I guess otherwise i won't get a color PDA since ~$150 is all I am willing to pay for one.
I hate this!! Things are supposed to get cheaper over time not more expensive!
(150$ before X-Mas and now it is ~$300 IF(!!!) compaq drops their prices ...)

Hey, I realize this isn't the right place to post this but... considering that I don't have a AMEX blue card ;( if someone will do this deal for me

I'll trade them all these wonderful goodies + anything else I have that they want...

One copy of Microsoft Asheron?s Call Dark Majesty (retails $19)

One copy of Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2002 (retails $69)

One copy of Microsoft FrontPage 2002 (retails $169)

One copy of Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum 2002 (retails $49)

and please PM me instead of posting on to this thread

>>>AMEX BVG will not PM TC Computers because they listed the item as "Ordered on Request" and BVG does not PM special order product. I initially tried to PM my Radio Shack 3635 purchase to TC Computers but was denied for the reason stated.<<<

Well, as with anything else, your mileage will vary...I was a little concerned about the above, but I had pricematched to Insight on 12/28 (I sent the same page that stated "Ordered On Request" back then). Today I received a check for $349.99-$291.99=$58.00 for one of my Ipaqs (claim was for 6 units, they paid 1, and will pay another 5 after I called). Anyway, it seems to me that BVG applies their 'rules' somewhat inconsistently, though not as inconsistently as Buyer Assurance. My backup plan, if rejected, was to wait until Compaq lowers the list price of the 3635 in a couple weeks.

[Edit: sorry - just looking at my printout...I pricematched to Insight, not TC Computers as I originally stated...I think I read that they are the same company though. The printout DOES state 'Ordered on Request'].

Congrats Justincase - As you said, with AMEX BVG YMMV. They turned me down my PM with TC Computersso so I PMed with MacUniverse and ended up with $10 less. I still have another 20 days or so that I can PM again when the price drops again. The SRP for the $3635 goes to $299.99 on 2/1 so I am fairly confident they we will be able to sqeeze additional $$ out of the RS iPAQ 3635 deal.

Thanks to puppyfriend's thread re: open box ipaq at compusa -I was able to pick one up for $199 with the 2 years warranty BEFORE $150 rebate from compaq! so net = $50

In 3 months, this will probably die since it's an open box, in which case I go straight back to compusa and "upgrade" to the newer 3850... Their TAP "warranty" is actually pretty nice - they'll replace it with whatever comparable model that is currently available. Last time I had to return a broken 3650 they gave me a a new 3850... I really like Compusa =)

thanks puppyfriend!!

How come you can get one from Amazon? I have been watching Amazon for a week and
it is always out of stock...

<< Sweet! Just got one from Amazon yesterday! $141 AR for the 3635! YAY!!! >>

The rebate will expire in 2 days... where I can buy one? almost everywhere are
out of stock, or "not valid with compaq rebate".

Yeah, YoullMispronounceIt, I got all that crap from M$ for free, too. But where's Zoo Tycoon and Flight Simulator? Are those free games too good for you to trade for a $400 iPaq? BTW, if someone would rather, I have a copy of Visicalc I'll trade for an iPAQ!

I am thinking about picking one up at staples in the chance that the price will drop after the 26th and I can bring it back for the price difference. Kind of risky since it costs 450 there.

Well, I figured I'd call BuyDig (the ONLY place that has these in stock) and see if they would match Amazon's price of $550 (from their $699 price).

No go. CSR said the lowest he could go is $669, which is their price. I told him he was going to have trouble getting their money back on that, seeing as the MSRP is dropping to $299 next week!

>>>No go. CSR said the lowest he could go is $669, which is their price.<<<

LOL, I think the people at Buydig are smoking some funky weed lately. I bought my 3rd Minolta Dimage 7 from them in the last week of December, for $729...they subsequently raised it to $759, $799, $899 and, last time I looked, $999.

I think the Staples suggestion above is a sound one for the Ipaq...or just wait until the MSRP drops in a few days - don't get desperate to locate one just because the rebate is expiring; it's not like these things are life's necessities, and in a year, you'll be wondering why you spent so much anyway :Q

Just check officedepot.com and found that they have it in stock! but it asks for 599$.
I then called and asked if they pricematch other website. The CSR said only PM staples.com
or bestbuy.com or other famous one.... I hesitate and did not order...because the final
price would be 599-250(blue PM)-150 (rebate)=199$.... My expected price would be final 142$!

but if think that is acceptable...then go ahead.

Sorry, couldn't find 20% though I could swear I saw it somewhere. But if you go to the place where folks with f*t wallets like to hang out and make a simple search, you'll at least find this: office Depot 10% off $50. Better than nothing, IMHO.
