Damn, I guess I called into the Newark,CA store too late, seems that they had a few in stock but someone put them on hold already. Any other stores in the Bay Area (East Bay preferred)

I bought one today that was a display piece. Just the ups- one piece. The manager said
I have nothing, no box , no docs , no cd. Could anybody tell what does the package contain.
Where can I find the manual? And what is on the CD which he was mentioning. I would appreciate
if somebody throws some light on this. Is it worth buying for 22.49. Thanks all.

This is on the CD:link for software
PowerChute Back-UPS Bundle includes:

PowerChute plus for Windows 95/98/ME v5.0.2 (simple mode)
Award-winning software for desktop users provides safe system shutdown and data saving for desktops and workstations protected by APC UPSs.

PowerChute plus for Windows NT on Intel v5.1 (simple mode)
PowerChute plus v5.1 for NT/Intel offers desktop users safe system shutdown and data saving for the Windows NT Operating Sytem running on Intel platforms.

and it comes with a warranty card (you can register online with serial number) and a serial cable to connect to the UPS to use the software to monitor, and some phone cord. I think thats about it.

You can forget about the Times Square OD store. I just pickup up one today for 22.00 and change. It was the last one. I had to do a little bit of searching and found it on a top shelf with the label/sku turned towards the wall (the actions of an Anandtecher?).

Anyway it was a 650 KVA unit with the SKU number above written on it. I asked the clerk to check the price and she stated 179.00!!! I said please check again... it doesn't make sense. She then hit a keyboard button and stated that it was 22.xx. I paid for it and asked them to hold it until tomorrow (too heavy for me to carry to the opera).

I don't know if I should be happy or sad over this. Got a great bargain but do I really need it? I have several UPS's already. I may end up giving it as a present to someone.

<< WELL ghouldini, if you live in the greater Bay Area, I can help score you one. I'll charge you the same price $22.49...provided that you pay tax too. >>

Zclyh3, any chance you can PM me the location of the store? I need 2-3 of these, as one of my old ones failed, and I'm building a couple of new machines. I really need 1 per machine plus an extra or 2 for other components.

Long ways away, Michigan. :frown:

And the OD employees seem to be much smarter than OM employees.
I find the deals at OM but never any of these at OD.
The clearance tables always have junk too.

Well, if ANYONE wants one, then it's going to be $30 flat provided you live in the Bay Area. I'm only going to cover ground from Oakland to Fremont. So if anyone wants one, I'll meet them in a public place. I have a lot of these, so just email me at Zclyh2@hotmail.com if anyone wants one. Oh yeah..most of the stores I know are sold out. So good luck.

Lucky me... :) Picked up the last 2 from the Rancho Cordova, CA store.

Gonna be shipping one up to my brother in Seattle (only $8 FedEX ground... not bad for a 20 lb item....)
