On-court payback left ballplayer unconscious

I don't want to turn this into a racial arguement...

but I don't care what type of neighborhood you come from, black or white... this is organized interscholastic sports.
That type of reaction to anything just isn't justified or warranted. Someone made the arguement
that a lawyer would use the Ron Artest tape in defense... Anything less than an expelling would be unacceptable...
while Ron artest got away with it... is that really the type of play that we want to promote with our youths?

Not to condone what the Black guy did to the white guy, but we have no sound other than running commentary over
the video that we're being shown. It's possible that the white kid had been tormenting the black kid throughout the game. We're only
seeing... not hearing. I don't think either one of them should be allowed to play basketball again.

Why should the coach be punished? for all we know, he didn't have any knowledge of any troubles between the players previous to the incident,
if there was, it would've been obvious to the referee before the coach, they should have been warned with a Technical foul... at the very least.... and at which point the coach should have pulled the players... I blame the referee. Then again, maybe there was no evidence of tension previous to the play... in that case the black guy should be expelled and sent to the house of good shepherd or something... then when he returns, be under severe probation. As it is I think the white guy should be under the microscope as well for a period of time. There is no evidence in what we've SEEN that shows the white guy not provoking, but we were showed a 20 second clip...

LOL. Are you kidding me? Yes, it is a real fight, but there was nothing that warranted a beat down in a school basketball game. It is ludicrous to think otherwise. If anything a swing would have had him ejected from the game, but the fact that he kept hitting the kid even after the point that the kid was knocked out warrants an arrest and prosecution.

Also, yes people who play ball in general will talk smack, but it is also true that it is almost expected to talk smack when playing sports and basketball with friends when you are black.

Hit it right on the nose. Basketball is a rough contact sport (I have many injuries related to it), but it isn't aggressively violent.

For all we know the kid did something and perhaps the time to handle it was when you found him.

Also I hate to tell you this, in a real fight you don't stop swinging until you are sure. I doubt he realized the kid was already knocked out...still unless you are used to playground nonsense you aren't playing the you hit me, I hit you...you ok? no biting, pinching or pulling hair crap. no better fight fair crap. it's a fight, if you lose it you are probably going to be having some problems with your health for a few days to weeks or more. Same with even if you win sometimes.

His problem is that he's too stupid to realize that by circling wagons and justifying the kids actions, he's just lowered himself and his household to his level. We now know that if any of our children are playing with any of Classy's children and elbow them twice clearing out during the course of the game, they are liable to be sucker punched and then have their heads beaten as they lie unconscious. How many of us are going to want our kids playing with Classy's?

It's like when there's a terrorist action by Islamic jihadists and you expect all the peaceful Muslims to come out and condemn it but they don't and you wonder why not. Until they do, we're left to assume that they all find this behavior acceptable or if not acceptable then somehow cathartic.

It's a shame because to tone for his entire identity group is being set, then, by the lowest common denominator.
