I currently have a Soyo SY-P4X400 DRAGON Ultra Platinum Edition. It has On board CMI 8738 audio chip to provide 6-channel hardware audio solution. Would this be effecting my game performance? Should I look into a SB Live card or another sound card? Does it even matter?

It's not going to hurt your gamming performance any, it might affect your ear performance a bit though :) I'd do a search on this forum I think this topic has been covered a few times before. With that said, I recently took out my Creative Live sound card and tried out the Shuttle onboard sound. There is a big difference in sound quality, but then again theShuttle uses a crummy AC'97 2 speaker sound setup. Your sound output is really dependant on the quality of your speakers, what are you using for those?

it could hurt performance a lot... the audigy and audigy 2 both have a lower FPS hit when using certain types of sound, so keep that in mind. I'm using a TB SC and it's great, although it's starting to show it's age. If I could afford it, I'd get an audigy 2
