On a Windows98, Windows 2000 & Linux network
I get workgroup is not accessible The account is not authorized to log in from this station. ? With Win2000?
The Win98 computers don?t have this only the 2000 is there away to stop this?

Are you talking about accessing the w2k box from your w98 machines? Or the other way around? I think we just need a little more info to help out.

I've the same problem:

When the Win2k PC tries to access the network (My Network Places) the operation times out and a "Workgroup is not accessible. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." window pops up.

So basically it comes down to that the network functions fine (Internet sharing), but that the Win2k PC can't access the network, i.e. see the other PC's on the network or play LAN-games.

I haven't found a solution for this problem yet.

That's it Elledan I can see anything but the win98 computers around me can and the linux computers using samba can as well just 2000 can't

I don't seem to be having that problem... I can see my 98 and linuxbox, from 2k... make sure you have "encrypt passwords" enabled in your smb.conf file for your linux box, also make sure the linux box is set to be the master browser(this is how mine is setup since its the box that is always on serving me my internet from the cable modem)
