This is looking down into a ~25ft deep mine shaft. About two seconds later she was up to the top and staring at me from the far lip of the shaft, letting me know just how much I suck. Then she was gone. Watching her scale the walls and ladder was the coolest thing I've ever seen an animal do.

bobcats are one of my favoritest kitties. They have some ridiculous height they can jump upwards IIRC.

How did you manage to overexpose a picture 25ft deep?

Point and shoot in auto mode shooting into a scene that is half in noon sunlight in the Arizona desert and half in the shadow of a mine shaft. Sun lit half = overexposured, shadowed half = underexposed. I didn't have a great deal of time to compose the picture and change the metering mode.

Here's the histogram from the original, un-cropped photo:

Exposure time: 1/320
Shutter speed: 1/317.92
F-stop: 4.8
ISO speed: 100
Focal length: 44.4000
Flash: Not fired
Exposure mode: Auto
White balance: Auto
Orientation: Right-top
Aperture: 4.5313
Exposure bias: 0.0000
Metering mode: Pattern

we had a manx cat, a rumpy-riser variety. People used to always shout at us "Look out! there's a bob-cat on your porch" We got a kick out of it
