So I'm in Kazaalite and I start downloading the song "There, There" by Radiohead. I go in the kitchen for about 2 minutes and come back and its done downloading. I wonder whats going on, since I'm on dialup. So I start downloading another Radiohead song and I'm getting 45kb/s down. On dialup. WTF. So I go to play the songs and nothing plays. At this point I'm pretty damn confused. So I go to download another song and I'm getting the normal 6kb/s. Damn, I thought I was on to something.

you were probably downloading a fake file. it's full of nothing, so it came quickly because your modem was able to compress it

That's what I was thinking happened. I'm going to check for viruses anyway, but .mp3s can't contain viruses can they? I've got view file extentions on, the only extentions on the files are .mp3.

im pretty sure that they cant contain a virus. But perhaps you have a preexisting virus or virri. hmm...

I'm pretty sure they're fake files because I'm only having this problem with songs from the new Radiohead album. They're also the only ones that will download at 45kb/s.

Reboot first and rerun antivirus whatever, see if it deletes then, if it isn't expunged in the reboot.

If that works, uninstall Kazaa ;)

Hmm so I guess the evil people have figured out how to put a virus in a mp3, or else OREOSpeedwagon opened an exe, thinking it was an mp3.

Yeah, I avoid P2P file sharing (actually all forms of it) mainly for trwo reasons:
1) I don't like viruses
2) I buy my own software (I'm not saying I'm better than you, this is just my belief)

And yes, .mp3 can contain viruses. I saw an article awhile back that said someone figured out how to put a virus in a .txt as well. If I find the link I'll post it, but this shows how insecure obtaining files from unknown sources is very dangerous.
