Wow, looks like someone melted the front and then just pinched the whole front end together and said "yes, that looks good. This will make people want to buy this vehicle."

Glad my Saturn's not ugly :D

Do you work for GM or a supplier?

I'm a supplier and I totally agree. :(

Pretty much all of the tiers are all but shutting down. Cancelled orders are all the rage now.

EDIT:

I blame GM completely though. Both my co-worker and my boss own Saturn Ions. What POSes. Both have already gone through both rear turn signal/brake light bulbs in less than a year. One lost a starter already. Both have issues with their power windows falling off the track.

Yes, we supply all of the automotive industry with gas tanks, fuel lines, pumps, brake lines, transmission lines and pushrods (GM bought 100 million a few years ago - a point about still living in the stoneage! ;) ).

Yes, GM business sucks for us. They are forcing cutbacks against our will all the time.

We are agressively working trying to get Japanese business, but they tend to favor other Japanese companies (who will give their business on a lower margin than our company will offer).

We have been pretty lucky with the Japanese as we have been accepted as a supplier, but GM and Ford our still big buyers of ours.

We make fuel system quick connects, so I'm sure that our companies have crossed paths :)

I've never really like the Vue front end. The present model looks better with that front grill guard.

We also make quick connects for fuel systems. We have also just developed a new brake line quick connect (no more screwing fittings).

We have just won a new Toyota Corolla contract as well as picking up Honda business for the first time.

We just won Hyundai's new Alabama plant contract to supply gas tank filler pipes as well as other components. Strange, we own a company in Korea that supplies components to Hyundai and they want us to build a plant for that company in the US to supply them instead of using our existing "name brand" US plants!

Yeah, brake, coolant, and AC are the big pushes right now, along with non-automotive applications. Anything is better than dealing with the flucuations with auto industry.

OOps...I forgot that we supply a huge amount of AC components (lines, canisters, etc) also! :)

I dont like Saturn. So I think they were just thinking what they always are thinking... and that my friend is "How can we suck more?"

I'd rather pleasure myself to automotive components than computer components. :(

I could forge you a beautiful axle, maybe not as sexy as quick connect fittings, but it would be long, thick, and straight.

American corporate culture. They somehow found a way to hire people with the proper "credentials" but no talent. Anyone with talent that manages to slip through the cracks will be laid off for not agreeing with the majority during meetings. Or they get assimilated and lose that talent.

When Saturn began they were very innovative and operated pretty independently from GM. Their products were unique. Now GM has taken control and is making Saturn into yet another bland devision that sells rebadged cars from other divisions.

BTW, my Saturn SL2 has 216,700 miles. Still going strong.

I visit those forums. If you own a Saturn and you want info on how to fix it, ideas for modding, etc, that's the place to go.

Pontiacs are also plagued with similar electrical problems.
