I bought my wife a leather coat for Christmas, and she wanted to wear it on Christmas and we found the security thing still attached. I just cut through it with a hack saw. No ink, nothing. Very easy to get rid of.

i had this happen to me once. i went back to the store (sans reciept) and they took the thing off without question. i expected a hassle and was pleasantly surprised that i got none.

Around here, JCpennys is the only store that has the ink security tags... at the gap I am pretty sure that they only are magnetics to set over the sensors at the door.. my mom worked at the gap, but it was about 10 years ago or I would ask her.

DON'T DO IT. There is actually a small amount of C4 in there and tampering with the lock will blow your face off.

there is no ink in security tags.

just use plyers to remove it.

are you 100% positive???

LoL

I removed some tags from some baby clothes I bought a while back. Had the ink nodules in it... Managed to do it, but it wasn't easy. Careful work with an Xacto knife and a pair of pliers.

Which kind of security tag does Gap use?

When I used to work in retail I noticed that a lot of stores used the one with the long piece of plastic and pin to hold it on. If you bent both side of the plastic piece towards each other, the sensor came right off.

Personally if that didn't work, I put in another vote for the hacksaw ;)

Their door detectors are not always on. I know a few shops that use them for scare tactics and rarely leave them on. K-mart on the otherhand always have them on and they're going off right now.
