I was going to put on a pair of new jeans that I bought 2 weeks ago from the Gap. As I was taking off the tags...I notice that they didn't take off the security tag.

I've always heard horror stories about what happens when you remove it w/o the proper tools...

HOW DO I REMOVE IT W/O GETTING THE INK ALL OVER ME??

aww...this sucks. I don't even know if my mom still has the receipt. if i bring it back..they'll just say I stole it. I wonder how i got past the doors w/o the tag setting it off.

what should i do?!?!?!

You should be able to bring it to any gap I imagine. I doubt they will think you stole it.
The holidays are a busy time, and I imagine that many times people forget to take the security tags off. And then
when the person gets home, they wrap the gift. So you could have gotten it for a gift and not have known.

just use plyers to remove it.
Some have it, but it should be visible. If it's just the regular beige tag used by the scanners to signal an alarm yeah I agree take some tools to it.

I would NOT go to gap to get it removed UNLESS you have a receipt. Don't trust them on this, they may dick you over and think you stole the pants.

Those things are easy to remove. Get a pair of pliers and a screw driver and just pry the two halves apart. Same thing happened to my Mom when she was out visiting a couple years ago. She got home and realized one of the garments she bought still had the security device on it. She was going to go back to Robinsons-May but I was able to remove it pretty easily.

i used to work there -- either go back with your receipt, or use pliers like the others have suggested. Theres no ink, its just a magnet that sets off security. You can also just rip it off with your hands, its not too hard to do it.

As I understand it some people who've stolen garments with the ink security devices would put them in the freezer then simply remove them with some tools after a reasonable amount of time when the ink should be frozen. This is presuming that it's an ink device of course.
