Have you tried actually using a decent spyware application, such as Spybot or Ad-Aware?

adaware is garbage , it only found tracking cookies but spy sweeper found some trojans and other spy sh.it but not single program can get rid of this freaking desktop search box

Ad-Aware has been rated the best spyware removal tool time and time again. Just because it doesn't find your particular bit of spyware doesn't mean it's garbage.

I'll say it again.

Spybot Search & Destroy.

[Edit] Please tell me you've got the absolute latest version of Ad-Aware and have updated it online after installing. Same goes for Spybot.

I work as a programmer for one of the major "spyware" companies and I'll tell you one thing, it's only going to get worse as we figure out ways to stomp all over firefox and immunize the apps against spyware apps. We are developing applications for MacOS X as well.

Did you run hijackthis in safe mode? Have you manually cleaned out all your temporary internet files and any directories related to spyware. Adaware is not junk at all.

I hope you're not serious.

Wduaqnug:

may I suggest installing the following applications to prevent this crap?

SpywareBlaster
SpywareGuard
Spybot S&D
Adaware

And blocking third party cookies in IE.

Or use Firefox/mozilla instead.
