All of you faulting the photographer, have you bought plane tickets to the Sudan ?

And what day are you leaving ?

Well if I did for some reason have tickets to Sudan, I'd feel semi guilty not helping and instead winning awards from taking pictures.

i posted a thread about darfur and, just like the way many other american's feel, no one cared. i bet maybe 3 people in all of atot actually took the time to write a breif letter to their congressperson and/or senator about helping out more in africa and helping african countries eliminate their debts to the world bank.

🙁

Once African countries start taking care of their civil wars, government corruption, slavery and religious oppression, then more will care. But African countries must take the first steps.

Annnnnnnd how many kids/people die each day from starvation?

Much more than just one child.

Edit: Also, that photographer did more to help those people than most of you (or me) will EVER do.

He at least shed some light on the horrors that are still taking place in Africa.

You do realize that 99% of the aid we send to these African nations is taken by the war lords who control the area and almost none of it goes to the people who need it right?

Yeah, lets send more money and aid to these countries...

QFT ^^

I saw a piece on how the world have donated billions to Africa and as of today, it has gotten worst than better.
Like many have said, the corrupt government are the ones that have benefited.
If we really want to help these starving countries, the government needs an overhaul.

You can see how alot of countries that was poor before but now they are starting to prosper beacuse the right government structures are in place.

The IMF imposes austere financial conditions on a country when they give loans. These conditions cripple a country's industry and wipe out its financial market. So if they can't generate any wealth, how are they going to pay for it? The people, who already have no means to make money. Corruption occurs because it is one of the only ways to make money.

These conditions are made in the name of free trade. They suit us, foreign investors who hold all the money. That's capitalism for you. I guess the blame game can be played all the way home.

Too bad, I just threw away enough food for that kid to eat for a week.

It sucks that exists, but until everyone in America is completely fed and housed, I'm not going to worry about africa.

Interesting fact:

Journalists at the time were warned never to touch famine victims for fear of disease.
